Gimme some of of that listeria, e. coli, salmonella, the parasite thing I had from a salad, etc. There wouldn’t be more food. Diversity is what keeps us alive. You do you, but I don’t think you understand how the world works. And please tell me how rice and beans will keep me alive in -40 degree weather. I guess I should just chug olive oil.

I agree an authoritarian ban would not be well received, and likely circumvented.
The 50% cut in consumption could be achieved voluntarily through subsidy, tariffs, education and health arguments.
