no. they’re afraid of thinking for themselves.
Comment on Why is the approach to nudity and sex in films and tv so vastly different between the US and Europe?
Gaslov@lemmy.world 3 days agoI think Americans are mostly terrified of European nihilism and don’t want to fall into the same trap.

How does “European nihilism” manifest in a way I can examine?
Gaslov@lemmy.world 3 days ago
Are you European? Do you think nothing matters? I have been around far too many Europeans that think that way and definitely do not look towards Europe for what I want America to be. Is it the desensitization of nudity? Probably not alone. But it’s one tiny piece of the nihilistic puzzle.
Look, you have it, you enjoyed it, and now it’s no longer a big deal. In other words, you no longer enjoy it like you once did. We’d rather not go that way. Everything in moderation. We’ll save the cyberpunk dystopia for another day.

What the actual fuck are you talking about

If you think that a particular thing matters a lot, and other people think that thing doesn’t matter at all, then clearly they’re nihilistic degenerates.

Europeans don’t think nothing matters, where did that come from? They just don’t all think sex and nudity are shameful or evil. A positive approach is not the same as nihilistic or desensitized or whatever.
