Costco put out Christmas stuff near us. These companies are literally completely destroying the meaning of the holidays.

Sorry, but it’s too fucking hot most places to even think about spooky season right now.

Costco is particularly infamous for this. They start putting out Halloween in July and Christmas in August. By September, Halloween is over and it’s all Christmas

I feel like the only companies who should have stuff out early like that are craft stores because people need time to craft things.

You have to go back pretty far to have the meaning of holidays not be about rampant consumerism.

Like, to still it, or to decorate the store?

I think to sell, my wife texted me while she was in the store the other day.

Kinda annoying but also, just because it’s for sale doesn’t mean it has to be that season..

Costco is always a season ahead.

Eh, we just had like four deaths in our extended social group in the last month. We put up our ofrenda early this year
fireweed@lemmy.world 2 months ago
I’m sorry to hear that; I hope you’re doing well.

better than i should be. i process fast and i just ran into mary poppins. not julie andrews, the broadway one, who is a dear friend of mine from high school, who i thought i would never see again, and now it looks like i’ll be part of the annual get together, so that’s neat.
