Actually, I just remembered I found a different male near the front door and grabbed a better picture with the macro lens for my phone. It was really small!

That looks like the female spider just from underneath. This is what I found when looking for what male vs female look like.

I also rewatched it recently and her acting is great. In the words of my friend: “She was just put there just to be boobs and I wanted to hate her for it, but her Seven character arc was so good that I couldn’t and I love her for that.”

- Comment on How has Apple tricked so many people into believing that they "just need to get another Apple product"? 1 week ago:
Apple users just buy the BigMac they already know, even if there are much better burgers around
This right here is the perfect explanation. A lot of folks go for what they already know and if they know Apple products, they go for Apple.
I know better options exist. I know I could do all this customization with distros and side loading and whatever, but I don’t have any interest or desire to learn that. I would rather spend that time in my garden or outside on a hike or go camping. So I go for what I know and I know Apple.

Right, and I don’t get why this is so hard to grasp, if questions like OP are in good faith.
Because folks like OP are not asking in good faith, otherwise they would not have asked the way they did. They simply want to talk down about Apple users and feel superior to them because OP is so smart and Apple users are so dumb.
More often than not it’s just to start circlejerking with the same argument over and over.
This is exactly what it is. People have different preferences and priorities in their daily lives, but some folks think their preferences and priorities are superior to others and that makes anyone who doesn’t think like them a dumb idiot. You can find this type of thinking across so many different topics.
I’m no Apple fangirl, but I’ve had this discussion with someone in my college class. Super nice guy, but just could not understand why I prefer Apple over Android. He was polite about it and asked similar questions that OP asked, but in a less obnoxious manner. We both pulled our phones out and poked around together. He still didn’t quite get it, but he was respectful and listened to me instead of being rude.
Some people have to feel superior to others in order to feel better about themselves and I find these types of posts bring that type out.
but we don’t have other options don’t we?
This is the real crux of the problem!
- Comment on Are products "for curly hair" supposed to straighten hair, make them more curly, or just formulated not to effect the curl at all? 1 week ago:
I get that. I feel like it’s the actually really similar for my hair type. When it’s long, if I don’t have an extensive routine with conditioners and hair oils, it just knots up with the tiniest breeze. Like, if it’s a sort of windy day, I will end up with a rat’s nest of knots.
But that’s why I cut mine all off, I’d rather deal with a pixie cut than spend an hour+ keep it manageable every day. It’s probably a grass is greener kind of thing lol

Yeah, I’ve had a few issues here and there across all of my devices, but most can be fixed with a restart. I’m literally the only person at work who does not have constant problems with my work Windows laptop. But I’m also the only person who shuts it down every day at the end of my shift and goes out of my way to check for updates.
I get why folks who are more involved in their devices or prefer more customization may not like Apple products, but a lot of people just see them as a device to connect to the internet or write papers etc. and that’s about it. Folks like Apple because it works for them.
I’m really happy there are options for people to have a device that suits their needs.

Honestly, this has been my experience too. I’m not an all in Apple user, but I have had a few devices over the years and for the every day user, it’s a pretty easy experience.
I started with the old Apple router. That thing ran like a champ and I was really sad when they got rid of it. It was what made my gamer buddy more open to Apple products, games ran great on that thing. I didn’t purchase another Apple product for a few years. I used to talk so much shit about Apple and I was hopeful that the Microsoft Zune would be the iPod killer. It wasn’t, but I still have my 2 Zunes.
I had an original Motorola Droid with the flip out keyboard (something I truly miss). But the OS was garbage and I constantly had issues. Eventually, I purchased my first iPhone off a friend for about $50. I think it was a 6 or something. More to help friend out than me needing a new phone, it was my chance to try an iPhone for cheap. It was a significant upgrade to my previous phones.
After that, I have kept with iPhones because upgrading to a new system is extremely simple. Previously, you had to pay to transfer info from one device to the next, it could be done at home but it was a lot harder. With the iPhone, I literally just log in and everything is there. Yes, I save things to the cloud. Yes, I understand the problems it has, but I accept that. Now, I have an iPhone 13 that I will probably be able to get another 2-3 years out of. I don’t ever buy the Pro because it’s more than I need, I usually get the regular with more on device storage when I upgrade. I also have an AppleTV because I feel it’s one of the better plug in TV devices and it links seamlessly to my iPhone.
For me (and probably the vast majority of Apple device users) “it just works” is enough to keep me happy. I don’t need all of the customization that Android provides, but I’m so glad it’s an option for people. I have stability, user ease, and an ecosystem that, while it may be closed, it’s simple and doesn’t really have any issues. I almost never experience the issues that most people complain about with Apple products.
I’m still all in on PC though, I don’t need a Mac because it’s too expensive for what I do on my computer, which is mostly playing World of Warcraft. I still use Windows because I don’t do much with customization so many of the issues people have with Windows, I have never experienced. I’d like to move to a Linux system, but when I tried last year, I couldn’t get Warcraft running, so I switched back to Windows. I will likely wait until I get a new PC before I try again. With computers, most people’s options are Mac or Windows because that’s what is at the store. Linux isn’t typically sold installed on a device (which I wish it was) and a lot of people just want to open the box, start it up, and go.

I’m one of those people with curly hair that hates it. I hate it, because I can’t opt out of dealing with it
As a person with straight hair, I empathize with this so much. I cannot opt out of it either, my hair will not hold a curl to save my life and it’s dull, scraggly, and takes so much effort to manage when it’s long.
I know it’s not an option for everyone, but I just said fuck it and cut it all off. I’ve had a pixie cut most of my adult life lol
- Comment on Library Apps are GOATed 1 week ago:
I have 3 library cards and I use them as frequently as I can. I’ve been building my video collection by borrowing blu-rays and ripping them to my pc. I have all of Star Trek Lower Decks and working on getting The X-Files.
I also walk the stacks to grab random books off the shelf. Sometimes I’ll flip through them, sometimes they will just sit at home before I return them a week or two later. Either way, the use numbers for library books go up and that’s a good thing!
The events are great, lots of art and music access. And one branch has a gardening swap meet to take in extra gardening scraps like cuttings, and extra fruits and veggies. I dropped off a bunch of extra spider plant babies and walked away with some new succulents like my new agave plant 🥰
Everyone should use their library card if you have access to one!
- Comment on For those who are super against to AI/LLM today. What was the catalyst how did you reach to this point? If you have the power to change our current situation what would you do. 2 weeks ago:
I dabbled with ChatGPT when it first came out, then this happened:
That was the catalyst that turned me against it. I’m a pretty big reader and I love finding new authors and stories. Knowing that people were cheating the system to make a quick buck did not sit well with me. Knowing that a scifi magazine that has published some of my favorite authors received so many bad submissions that they had to shut it down for a while made me angry.
Then came the information about inaccuracies, environmental issues, AI psychosis, and it being forced into Google searches made me not want to have anything to do with it. I was so disgruntled that I switched every one of my default search engines to www.noai.DuckDuckGo.com so I can avoid it.
One of my biggest gripes is that people use it for an easy quick solution but do not verify the information is correct through other sources. I have a friend who is very into AI, to the point he told his employee that he must use it during work hours when trying to find solutions. I told him, if my boss said that, I would start looking for a new job immediately.
That said, I’m not entirely against LLMs in specific circumstances. I can see how it’s useful in research spaces, but it should be triple checked by a human. Or in creating documents and summaries of meetings, but again should be triple checked by real humans.
I don’t trust the output, I don’t trust the companies behind the output, I just don’t trust it.

lol I’d go crazy eating the way two eat. It would be constant migraines all day every day. He doesn’t eat much by way of breakfast either for the same reason, his stomach gets upset. Once in a while, he suggests going out to breakfast on the weekend and I always jump at that chance lol
Folks are all kinds of different!
- Comment on 2 weeks ago:
I tend to eat the way you do; 3 meals a day with limited snacking. I eat this way because it helps me manage my migraine issues and snacking too much will cause weight gain, which (for me) causes bad back and knee pain. I used to snack more when I had a very physically demanding job. I’m a healthy weight.
My partner naturally fasts between 9pm-12pm every day. He eats a good size lunch, big dinner, and a good amount of usually healthier snacks. It works for him, I could never eat that way because I wouldn’t be able to afford the migraine medication that would go with it, but he does not have that problem. He’s a healthy weight.
I have a couple of friends who are more 1 meal a day with healthy snacking throughout the rest of the day. They are healthy weights and it seems to work for them.
Everyone is different and if it works for someone, I say have at it!

I often hear about people being loud, distracting, and using phones in theaters, but I rarely see it myself. It probably depends on what you’re going to see; when I went to see TMNT Mutant Mayhem, I went in knowing there would be kids, so I expected some chatter. When I saw Barbie a few days later, the theater was pretty quiet.
I go to the more expensive theater with big comfortable recliners now though because I can’t do cheap theater seats anymore, they are horrible for my back. Most of the movies I see are aimed at adults, so it’s probably partly the demographic.

Yeah, I mean I do feel kind of bad because I’ve flown long enough to see how much smaller the space has gotten. But physical pain overrides any guilt I feel and I will recline the seat.
- Comment on Put your seat back or no? 1 month ago:
I put the seat back every single time I am on a flight. I have back issues and I get back pain if I sit upright like that for too long. If the flight attendants are asking to not put a seat back because the person behind me, then I’m going to ask for a new seat because sitting upright for 11 hours is agony.
Sorry to the tall folks and whatnot, but I’m not flying somewhere just to be stuck in bed for 2 days unable to move because of back pain.
