Pedofiles, those that think and do not act, deserve more compassion by society. They can’t help the way they feel. Acting on it is obviously extremely harmful but they can’t even talk about it, even to therapists, for fear of persecution. The current methods of suppression are harmful and akin to conversion therapy for lgbt folks. We need to allow them to have a voice and access to non harmful animated CP with all consenting adult voice actors or AI. In out current society they are akin to trans people in the 1950s

Even further, most people raging about supposed pedos give zero actual fucks about children. They just want a group of to hate and despise unthinkingly. They need something to make them feel like better people. It’s the reason that despicable murderers will kill child molestors in jail. Neither has a leg to stand on.
For example, how many actual child molesters do you think are pedophiles? The minority!!! So when you preach about pedos, you’re literally ignoring the majority of perpetrators.
Or what about the incessant semantic creep of what a pedophile is? Medically speaking, a capital P Pedophile has a major or exclusive attraction to prepubescent children that is severe enough to hinder them in their daily lifes, or threaten the health of themselves and/or others. The anime nerd in the basement looking at 14 year old eternal dragon girls is weird, but a fucking far cry from a pedo.
If a 30 year old finding a 17 year old attractive and someone actually assaulting a 5 year old is put into the same bucket, the bucket becomes meaningless.

Certainly agree with some of it but I don’t know if I necessarily agree with legalised non-harmful CP. I absolutely think that non-acting paedophiles deserve compassion, I can’t imagine how genuinely awful it must be to have thoughts like that, particularly if they clash with your own moral values. Even trying to get help could potentially wreck your life so it feels for some its a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. I wish I knew what the answer could ever be but absolutely we need to somehow reduce the automatic prejudice on those who want help. As you say, conversion doesn’t seem to be the answer, if you haven’t seen it then I highly recommend watching Louis Theroux’s A Place for Paedophiles where he spends time at Coalinga State Hospital looking at people convicted of these types of crimes where they are held indefinitely unless they enroll in a conversion therapy course which has an insanely low number of successful patients being able to leave it and get back to the real world. The stuff feels inhumane and almost designed to fail.

No, that goes against just about everything that we know about the psychiatry of people sexually attracted to children. Pedophillia is a mental disorder, it’s not anything like being trans or any version of the LGBTQ community. Quite honestly conflating the two in any way is not only dangerous, but insulting.
You do not get better from a mental disorder by positive engagement with the impulses that triggers your illness. That would be like saying an arsonist should just buy a bunch of candles. Or an alcoholic should just sip on a little bit of wine before bed to manage their craving.
You can in fact get help with the way you feel, and that help is distributed by a therapist who will give you treatment rather than persecution. Long term cognitive behavioral therapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for pedophillic disorder.

Germany has had a program for that for like 20 years, apparently it’s working pretty well. The therapy at least, the societal part is pretty much the same as everywhere.

Germany had a program where they gave foster children to pedophiles, up into the 1980’s, because they thought that the creeps would take care of the children if they could fuck them.

Well if its any consolation, pedophilia is not a crime and never has been. Rape is the crime and always should be. Not all pedophiles are rapists, we need to prosecute actual rapists more instead of electing them president.

I thought I heard him say that gathering data was very difficult as people would have to admit to offending. Maybe it was because I kept on hearing him talk about problems with studies sample sizes but that doesn’t matter.

brave take. i would add that the demonisation of such people forces them into the only community that will accept them: other paedophiles. then you get a bunch of paedophiles hanging out, with only 2 things in common: paedophilia, and a chip on their shoulder from being wronged by society. not a good combo if you wanna stop child abuse
