Have you sincerely and cheerfully wished your multibillion dollar corporation landlord a happy and prosperous birthday, and have you gratefully and bravely remitted no less than three (3) months of your (useless to you) money?
No?
You’re what’s wrong with society.

If that fridge is still happily running then be happy, they literally don’t make them like that anymore.

It leaks water on the floor, causes my power bill to go up and grows mildew around the seals weekly…

Good news, they do still make them like that!

It’s low on refrigerant and effectively unfixable. Depending on where you’re at you can probably withhold rent by putting it in an escrow account until the landlord fixes the problems. You have to tell them by certified mail, and if appliances aren’t included in your rent agreement don’t do it because you’re already screwed. In that case get your own fridge and keep the receipt.

Nah it’s Indiana. This state is arguably the most pro landlord state with very little tenant rights hence the old fridge among other issues that get bandaids instead of repairs/replacement.

It’s probably also super inefficient and uses Freon
db2@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Freon is a brand name not a refrigerant. You mean R12 which was banned in new equipment 32 years ago. It’s probably R22.

Isn’t freon one of the more efficient refrigerants we have? The environmental concerns aren’t applicable until it goes into a landfill.

That’s good
