No alternative than to keep looking for a job. At least evictions take months to years to complete. They’re lucky that they have parents to live with currently.

It’s terrifying though. Don’t these people worry what will happen when their parents die? Even if the house is paid off, you still have a lot of monthly expenses.

OTOH, a paid off house is all you need for basic subsistence. If you only have to pay property taxes, insurance, and maintenance, getting a couple of roommates would cover that plus something left over for food and other essentials each month.
Remember, every home is a potential revenue stream for its owner.

Or the parents are in terrible debt too, or they need to go to a nursing home so you sell the assets they have to cover the costs until they’re exhausted. For many there’s nothing to inherit.
