That’s been pretty common in high end performance cars for over a decade. Good for Darwin awards.
Fortunately it’s also noisy enough that you can IMMEDIATELY tell and get the fuck out of the way. EVs need to start making noise like that lol.

Incidentally that’s a German car that’s sold worldwide with that feature. Japanese, American, Chinese, British and other cars have that feature too.

Same reason Jeeps have more ground clearance and suspension travel than they need to operate on public roads. Some people use their vehicles for both transportation and recreation.
