I once saw You Am I doing a cover show of Spinal Tap. It was unhinged and glorious

Have you ever been to see a tribute band? I went with friends to see “Van Halen” once. They were alright. I’ll never forget “David Lee Roths” zebra leggings.

I went to see The Darkness, who were sorta tribute. Had a great time. They came on stage each member wearing a different Jimi Hendrix outfit. I laughed so hard.
I saw a Johnny Cash act once, he was pretty good but the room was just a concrete box and it was too loud.

I watched a Metallica cover band when I first moved here. There was a guy in the crowd that looked more like Kirk Hammett than the guitarist in the band and it was so loud my ears rang for two days after. I think that’s when I decided to start wearing earplugs to shows

Yes. Some are very very good, and some are quite frankly horrible. Usually the ‘cuter’ the name, the worse they are. Imo the best are the ones that re-interpret the songs to suit themselves, more covers than an attempt to re-create the original songs. The level of musicianship varies a lot but can be impressive. Worth a low end of range ticket price at least just to find out which.

There was a Black Sabbath tribute band back in Toronto. They were awesome (wish i remembered their name). I think Ozzy watched them play a few times and had kind words.

My first concert was to see the SpiceD Girls. I was 12 and cried like I was seeing the real thing.
