Upvoting to ensure more Americans think Australia is a desolate wasteland not worth visiting.

Pretty sure America owns Australia at this point.

But is it worth visiting (I’m not an american)

As an Australian I may be biased, but I think before colonization Australia (or at least big parts of it) were a paradise. A lot has been damaged, but it’s still a special place.

Eh, to summarise, early Aboriginal hunting caused a shift in the ecosystem that led to eucalyptus becoming dominant, and in turn caused the great desertification of the continent.
They couldn’t have possibly known of course, not slinging blame here. Its just a sad example where even pre-colonisation and industrialization, humans have been wreaking havoc on nature.
I think it’d have to go a long way back to call it proper paradise.

100% mate, we got drop bears and other venomous mammals. Shits crazy down here!

Recently the quokkas evolved to use tools and they’ve become quite skilled with switch blades. Now it’s not just the drop bears, you have to watch out for quokkas sneaking up behind you and cutting the tendons in your legs with a poisoned blade.

Yeah, I can be pretty fucking venomous when I want to be!

The actual fauna in Australia is way worse than whatever dropbear stuff of nightmares anyone’s brain can concoct anyway lmao
