Comment on And toxic in large amounts!

It wasn’t until recently that I learned how bad cinnamon was for you. Saw that the max you should consume per day is 1-2 teaspoons. Not tablespoons. I was eating a whole thing of cinnamon powder a week just cuz I like it. I’ve stopped doing that.

1-2 teaspoons is a crazy amount to be fair

This is so inherently incorrect it’s incredible.

look it up, they’re not exaggerating. it depends on if it’s cassia or true ceylon cinnamon

This is cassia bark (what most sell as cinnamon) but not Ceylon (has 250x less) so if you have “true” cinnamon then you’re fine

Interestingly licorice is the same; the American variant is higher in (glycrizza?) and that can have health side effects, the European variant has far less and thus has less of an impact on your health.
How did I discover this? I was literally on meds that were having zero effect, and then it occurs to me to go online and read up on the side effects of the licorice tea I was drinking every day only to discover the exact kind of meds I was on (muscle relaxants I think) were being counteracted by the tea.
