If human blood has plastics at a rate of ~ 1.6 ”g/mL and a typical volume of blood donated during a whole blood donation is approximately 470-500 mL youâre looking at a reduction in plastics of a cool .0005 grams per donation. Thatâs 1/40th of a grain of rice!

Too inefficient, Iâm just going to pump it all out and start again with fresh blood.

The trick is to find a blood boy like Peter Thiel
Deceptichum@quokk.au âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Why would I want Peter Thiel as my blood boy?
yogurtwrong@lemmy.world âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
So you gotta do a full flush when you donate. Got it.

why would you use absolute values for something measured in such small quantities? show us the percentage that comes out. or the fraction of the grain of rice associated with kidney / liver damage

Donât think of it like that, think of it as 10% of your total blood plastic!
I wonder if doing plasma instead of whole blood is better or worse. Does microplastic stay behind or go back in?
reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Damn apparently giving plasma might be better according to this small study of aussie firefighters
cannon_annon88@lemmy.today âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Ooh maybe I should donate again. Get some extra cash, get rid of micro plastics. Win win win.
user224@lemmy.sdf.org âš3â© âšweeksâ© ago
Iâd argue itâs better to call it âsellâ when you get paid to do so.
Just like I am not donating money to Lidl to buy sour gummy worms.

Go drinking after for an extra efficient sesh
