It never even crossed my mind that you could just buy a machete. Clearly an opportunity lost.

Did everyone stockpile machetes before they were banned today? It slipped my mind and I forgot to get mine

Spent a bit of time in Machetes R Us on Machete street in the Machete district.
Got some good ones for the collection

I’ve never been, I’m all about Machete City.

Machete Emporium is okay, but you gotta know the staff to get a deal.

This has to be one of the least effective and stupidest knee-jerk reactions I’ve yet seen. It would be more to the point to ban shopping centres imo. Or teenagers. Machetes are really really easy to make - long grass slasher machine blades make the best ones. This is traditional in the bush for clearing scrub and butchering deer/sheep and opening Queensland Blue pumpkins if you can’t find the bow saw. Just screw the blade to a handle of some sort and sharpen. And I don’t think they’re going to ban council grass mowers anytime soon. Or Bunnings. Or pumpkins.

Why can’t they just use a scythe instead? My Stardew Valley player makes it work! /s

Scythes are a bit different - really thin blade at the end of a long pole. Very specialised for it’s purpose - mowing grass really low. A machete is a thickish chunk of metal and quite heavy.

This reminds me of when my brother made nunchucks from mum’s broom handle, a chain and some electrical tape.

All of which can be bought easily from Bunnings.

You can still buy cleavers, axes etc. Ill thought out kneejerk law I agree!
