The pump at my regular gas station used to have a hidden mute button. Hold down the top right button next to the screen and voila no annoying ad noise.
After a a year of this they replaced the pumps and now I cant mute the ads anymore. Sad face.

Went to therapy for depression and high anxiety.
Put me on depakote. Gained a lot of weight(spare tire) and ended up with body dismorphia which made me even more depressed.
Quit that therapist and went to another who pulled me off of it. Body went back to normal. Just needed someone to talk to. Helped me realize that I cared too much about what others thought.
My anxiety was due to trying too hard to people please when most people don’t know themselves what pleases them. And the depression was me failing to help others.
If they don’t know, how the fuck am I supposed to help them. Answer: Don’t. Help myself and by extension I help everyone. Problem not solved but definitely more managed.
Came up with the phrase “Slow the Decay”. Best way to do that is by making suggestions that others may or may not take. If they do, I helped slow the Decay. If not, then it’s not my fault. Can’t help the entire world, but I can help slow the decay in my small part of it.

It works and now he is insanely angry that he can’t make me mad.

Tell him I’m sorry that he is an idiot and wish he hadn’t wasted so much of our time doing idiot things.
He kicks me out of the house and I’m uninvited to Christmas

Been aware of this unwritten rule for a number of years. The people who ask me for help do not. They insult the tradition by trying to give me money…stunch refusal gets me strange looks but invites to weekend bbqs.

Every part of our collective absurdity permeates all facets of our life. Just look at our ad space and signage. Food requirements or lack thereof. Civil service (one worker, six supervisors). Everything in any system of ours is absurd on levels no one person can truly fathom.

Had this conversation with my brother the other day…I’m all for Linux gaming and he is staying with windows because learning something new is antithesis to his having fun. I totally get it.

Used to live across the street from a Freewill Baptist Church.
Always curious about other beings mindsets, went and attended a service.
Walked through the main door and felt the trope of crickets chirping. No one greeted me, said hello, welcome, nothing. I was stared at but never acknowledged.
The service was strictly talking. No hyms or singing.
The sermon told me they are creationists that believe “Singing and dancing lead to temptation”.
Point is their “educational materials” were horrifying. Mostly just fear mongering and advising self segregation from reality.

Haven’t spent money in a Starbucks for over a decade…nor fast food chains, nor Walmart.

One of my friends acts almost exactly like this.
He is not an awful human being, but he isn’t the greatest either.
I’ve learned that he has to reach conclusions on his own and will seldom accept advice or constructive criticism. Sometimes it takes literal years for him to come to the same reasonable conclusion to a problem that I offered to him.
He is a brat. The culture he came from allows the eldest male in the family to act out however they want because they will become the leader of the family later on. So it’s best to let them do what they want in fear of later retaliation.
But seriously…he is an entitled brat. Love the dude, but reality just hits him differently.

Lived in SE USA most of my life…the majority of the most ridiculous fundamentalists don’t have an inner monologue. They speak but there is nothing going on upstairs except life processes.
The way they cling to ideas from others explains why they cling so tightly…they never had one of their own.
Because of this phenomenal outlook they typically adhere to the first idea that comes around and dismiss everything else as false.
Critical thinking is not applicable to everyone.
