- Comment on Why don't subtitles match dubbing? | Tom Scott [8:25] 5 days ago:
Based on other videos I’ve seen here the TL;DR
Subs and Closed Captions serve different purposes. The latter is for accessibility/hard of hearing and meant to be a literal transcription of what is said in that language. The former is mostly meant for language translations. To aid in understanding.
Dubs have to roughly match mouth movements because the video is the same for all languages. I know this isn’t true in every instance, but close enough.
Subs are translations from the original language, not from the dubbed audio.

Plus, what incentive do you have to join if you get the benefits without paying? No one would join, the union gets smaller and smaller, then it disappears. I’m sure that’s part of the actual intention.

I don’t understand why people don’t get charged in situations like this. Even if it wasn’t on purpose, it was entirely his fault. It’s extremely rare for a gun to go off accidentally.
Charges for extreme recklessness leading to death also seem to be too rare. Not just for guns, but also for cars and other things.

But that is what they are talking about. The Roman numbers are out of order. That’s why it’s mildly infuriating. It’s not that what’s happening doesn’t make sense.

Read the Roman numeral numbers.

I don’t think we’ll ever view this interaction in the same light.
- Comment on Nolte: VP Vance Repeatedly Humiliates Fake News During White House Briefing 2 months ago:
And? He didn’t have to get right in front of the car to do that. That’s why I said in another comment that both sides made poor decisions.

Like the agent stepping in front of a vehicle that he knows can be a deadly weapon?
- Comment on Nolte: VP Vance Repeatedly Humiliates Fake News During White House Briefing 2 months ago:
Not really more clearly but it’s definitely a better angle. It does look like the car pushed him. Still, by the time he gets a shot off he’s already been pushed out of the way.
- Comment on Nolte: VP Vance Repeatedly Humiliates Fake News During White House Briefing 2 months ago:
I think you should re-watch the footage and see where his feet are when he shoots. He does shoot through the windshield but he’s already past the hood when he does so. He goes a bit out of his way to shoot through the windshield.
This appears to be when his first shot occurred, based on the sound from the footage. You telling me that’s still in front of the vehicle?
- Comment on Nolte: VP Vance Repeatedly Humiliates Fake News During White House Briefing 2 months ago:
I’m not saying this is black and white. And it’s easy to look back at this and think on everythjng for more than a quick second. But what I am saying is that those agents did everything in their power to escalate a situation, including stepping in front of the vehicle on foot, that did not seem to require it. That lead to this result. It was poor choices all around. And I still want to reiterate, the agent didn’t even shoot until he was already out of the way of the vehicle.
And if you’re trying to equate this woman to Kirk… well, you’ve lost my interest in further discussion. Too many may have celebrated his death, but being apathetic to a hateful person’s death isn’t even in the same league.
- Comment on Nolte: VP Vance Repeatedly Humiliates Fake News During White House Briefing 2 months ago:
I mean, you can look at the video footage and make your own determination. I don’t think anyone is going to argue that if someone is trying to intentionally run you over that shooting them is going to be unreasonable force. The question is whether she was trying to intentionally run over the person. I’m not convinced she was. Hell, the guy doesn’t even get a shot off until he’s already clear of the car.
