Yeah I’ve read that he was researching why beer was spoiling, and he had done no research on milk whatsoever.
- Comment on Francis Ford Coppola's "Megalopolis" has ended its theatrical run after just 4 weeks with only $12.5 million, against its $120 million budget. 1 month ago:
You know, that’s the first thing that caught my attention, and it’s actually kind of bothering me. I now want to pronounce it “ootopian” to make it work, but it’s just so wrong.
- Comment on How you dune? 1 month ago:
Not going to lie to you, this is exactly what i did :)
- Comment on How you dune? 1 month ago:
It’s from God emperor of dune, i think it’s the fourth book in the series by publication, but not chronologically.
I guess this might be a spoiler if they eventually make it a movie, but basically, the son of Paul merges himself with a sand worm and becomes effectively immortal. It’s both interesting and bizarre.

Looks like a Milchkaffee, which is kinda like a cafe au lait
- Comment on Disneyland workers say they live in cars, motels due to low pay 5 months ago:
Some companies give stock as a primary benefit. Some of those companies may provide stock in lieu of pay. That doesn’t mean it’s necessary valuable - they typically give you some amount of stock equal to today’s salary, and you would be hopeful the value increases substantially.
Just the fact that the other person has stock from his time being employed by Disney is no indicator of their wealth.
- Comment on I genuinely feel like I wouldn't live that differently even if I suddenly became ultra-wealthy. Am I kidding myself? 5 months ago:
I feel like the wealthy people you see are the ones who either get excitement from flaunting it or from lying about it (for example, mtv cribs was all fake). There are plenty of stories (yes i know they’re just stories) about multi millionaires who drive the same old truck, wear regular blue jeans, and have a nice quiet (albeit larger than average) home.
It’s not crazy at all. I just think we see the outliers more frequently than not because they want us to see them.

I think they’re referencing the manga/anime death note. So they’re just writing in the names of countries hoping they will die
- Comment on THE DENVER NUGGETS HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENTION 6 months ago:
I haven’t watched too many full games this season, including playoffs, but I’m so glad I caught this one. The fadeaway from gobert was absolutely nuts. You could see from the middle of the third quarter that jokic was gassed, and nobody else besides Murray was hitting any shots for Denver.
This was an unbelievably exciting game, though I’m still confused as to why Denver seemed to give up right at the end after getting a steal. Seemed so odd.
And really, Naz had a game changing performance. He stepped up big when Minnesota needed him to. Just… wow. Incredible comeback.

Yeah true, maybe one day!

Living in the USA, my experience looking into this was similar. However, there are some doctoral programs in europe that are free even for international students, which is actually quite tempting.

Good call, i forgot about that one! Also i just looked up stills of walking tall and the rundown, and he had hair in the rundown, and a buzzcut in walking tall, so add another movie that could be just like the ones pictured.

I would guess the rundown and walking tall. Both are actually decent
- Comment on car insurance 8 months ago:
I don’t think it’s fair to assume, at best, an accident is negligence. There are numerous things that can lead to an accident that wouldn’t be negligence, such as normal wear and tear causing problems with something such as brakes or steering (perhaps not caught during routine maintenance as they weren’t issues at the time), something falling into the road (weather related, wildlife, erosion), or visibility issues (even cautious and solid drivers can be at risk during poor conditions).
I believe the comparison to a gun is woefully inaccurate and invalid. Both are machines with the capacity to cause harm, but the similarities end there.
- Comment on car insurance 8 months ago:
I can totally understand, and that makes a lot of sense. I think the sheer volume of accidents in the post are what’s so shocking. I’ve only been in a vehicle with a reckless driver two times (so far. And to clarify, two people, once each), and from my perspective, some people really shouldn’t drive. Heck, one of those two times was supposed to be a casual date (she was picking me up, we were in college), and i asked her to drop me off immediately. Big nope.
- Comment on car insurance 8 months ago:
That’s why i added not high volume times, so specifically not sitting in traffic. I’m suggesting that the act of driving itself isn’t horrific, though yes, sitting in traffic is awful.
- Comment on car insurance 8 months ago:
I can agree with some of your response to what was said by the other commenter, but my impression is that person was shocked that someone at a young age has been involved in double digit accidents that mostly sound like their fault. Some people really just are incapable of driving, but that doesn’t diminish that small lapses or true accidents do happen.
I would disagree that driving in general is miserable, though I’m sure this can vary by location. While i would prefer better access to efficient public transit (live in the USA), being able to get in a car and go anywhere is pretty freeing.

Not to spoil it, but edward norton does a good job of playing an unlikeable main character. It was silly but fun and worth the watch i think.
- Comment on Neighbour deliberately blocking OP 1 year ago:
His goal was to point out that it wasn’t worth it to mess with him, he’s going to fight back hard and take you out. It was about deterring him from wanting to ever pick on him. Right, his goal wasn’t to permanently disfigure him, but to establish a permanent idea that it isn’t worth it to pick on him
- Comment on Neighbour deliberately blocking OP 1 year ago:
That’s fair, though he was trying to permanently end the bullying, which is what i think OP was referencing at least. Since, you know, that would end bullying permanently
- Comment on Neighbour deliberately blocking OP 1 year ago:
I think it’s more of a book reference to his fight with bonzo, who was bullying ender. Ender was a few years younger and knew he had to win the fight “permanently,” so it’s inferred that he knew what he was doing.
Iirc, the officials told ender that bonzo was sent home, which was surprising since ender thought he killed bonzo. In reality, he did actually kill bonzo and was lied to about it.
- Comment on "this is my friend from work" 1 year ago:
I feel like the post can be interpreted more than one way. The way i took it, the person in question thought they were in a romantic relationship (perhaps socially awkward?), and then meeting the “boyfriend’s” whole family led to a shocking revelation - they were not in a relationship. Why else would that person introduce their family? I would imagine the two relationships would be kept separate!
- Comment on De-escalation 1 year ago:
In the post, someone replied that they get fired if they don’t deescalate properly. It sounds like the person you referenced did get fired. So i think that does add up?

- Comment on What are some RPGs for someone who doesnt like most RPGs 1 year ago:
Random encounters are a staple of Japanese rpgs, not rpgs in general (and also not all jrpgs have them). There are a plethora of rpgs without them! You will more likely see enemies on screen, and good rpgs allow you options to resolve things without combat (with some exceptions, like certain monsters).
