There’s also a non zero amount of people that don’t like being home. Whether it’s the spouse or the kids they’re avoiding, WFH makes it harder to avoid whatever is going on at home.
Just my gut feeling, but I’m gonna guess lots of c suite rich dudes would rather have a reason to be away from their wives and kids than being at home working. And there’s no cute coworkers to creep on either if everyone is home!
I’ve had regular co-workers not leave the office early when everyone else was because they didn’t want to “have to watch the kid(s) alone”.

I didn’t think about the “ambassador” angle. It probably is harder to get employees to drink the company koolaid when they’re not physically in the office.

Because no one agreed to pay that when they were ordering. Imagine being a on budget for a night out and getting this extra charge outta nowhere
- Comment on There's a steep decline in pay compared to the value workers add to the economy, closely tracking the fall in union membership. 1 year ago:
There’s so many idiots that are in unions and bitch about them, but for some reason refuse to leave the union.
People are really really dumb
- Comment on Almost all remote-work news is negative now but was positive in the beginning of the pandemic. Have you noticed this or am I going crazy? 1 year ago:
People working from home aren’t consuming much anymore.
Of course there’s commercial property leases and micromanaging bosses, but I think the uptick in this messaging is in response to people spending less money.
Less money on cars, gas, clothes, eating out, fancy coffee, hair/nails, dry cleaning, kid/annual care, gym (?), and probably so much more that I’m not thinking of.
And when we do spend money on those things, they’re lasting longer and we’re getting more discerning. When I do consider spending money on eating out, I’ll def choose going hungry over getting something lower quality.

Look. Asking for an old, scared-of-clicking-on-the-wrong-thing-when-trying-to-just-have-a-quick-dj-diddles friend.
How y’all finding porn on here? I’m still just looking at front page. No idea how to look anything up on purpose.
Or so my friend tells me.

How do you search? I’m on sync and don’t know how to look for things on purpose

No one is stopping them from saying their dumb hateful shit. We just don’t want it here.
Why can’t all you right wingers just yell at each other? We. Don’t. Want. To. Hear. It.
You already have FB and Twitter and Reddit and all the truth socials. Go there.

Just saw that I have responses to things! New Sync user, don’t mind me.
Looks like you got your sources, but wanted to address major companies and real estate. Commercial real estate has way longer leases than residential. And their landlords don’t have any incentive to let them break lease early. Who else is going to come rent that space?
Of course these companies want to “make use” of those wasted dollars. Even major companies aren’t immune to sunk cost fallacy.

Or men that do have a happy life at home, but don’t want to be home w/o the wife because children are women’s work (I worked with a guy pre COVID that didn’t take WFH days because he might have to watch kids on his own)
- Comment on PLEAAASSEE PLEASE COME BACK TO THE OFFICE PLS 1 year ago:
I’m like this too, but also social. I screw around with my coworkers so much in the office. I have to be home for my own good!

If the source of the article is suspect, where is the research by tech firms with a vested interest in cloud and communication platforms publishing counter studies?
Probably swimming in their Scrooge McDuck piles of cash since WFH became more widespread?
It’s the landlords losing money and the owner/C-suites not being able to see their minions in one place that are pumping out these articles.
- Comment on Is there a way to hide porn from my All feed without hiding all NSFW content? 1 year ago:
I haven’t seen any nsfw yet, and I’m on .world via Snyc as well.
I’ll probably make a diff account to join the nsfw instance (if I’m understanding how this works)
