Ugh. The more they announce features, the more I’m glad I switched.
- Comment on Trump Goes Full Dictator With Grim Warning About Courts 6 days ago:
“We cannot allow a handful of Communist, radical left judges to obstruct the enforcement of our laws and assume the duties that belong solely to the president of the United States,” Trump said.
“Judges are trying to take away the power given to the president to keep our country safe. It’s not a good thing, but I hope for the sake of our country that the Supreme Court is gonna save this, because we have to do something. These people are just looking to destroy our country,” Trump continued.
“Nothing will stop me in the mission to keep America safe again,” Trump warned.
[…]
Trump’s latest threat against judges feels particularly disturbing given a comment Monday from White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who wouldn’t rule out arresting Supreme Court justices.
I’m speechless…
This is the tyranny you are supposed to fight against with your 2nd amendment rights. The fuck are you waiting for?

Sometimes I regret my choice of doing software engineering only to be glued to a computer my whole adult life working at optimizing systems for large corporations to maximize their already huge profit and contributing nothing of significant value to humanity.
I’d rather be riding around on an ATV outdoors with the sun and trees and flowers and birds collecting soil and rocks and stuff.

I thought he hated China. China is basically this close to flooding the world markets with practically every consumer good and messing up economies. But he decides to go after his closest economic allies.

Don’t they usually fall asleep underwater with only their snout sticking out of the ice?

- Comment on IEEE 754 3 months ago:
So you have to remember how it’s represented in the system with how the bits are used? Or you just have to remember some general rules that “if you do that, it’ll fuck up.”
- Comment on IEEE 754 3 months ago:
No. I don’t have to remember that.
I just have to remember the limits and how you can break the system. You don’t have to think about the representation.
- Comment on IEEE 754 3 months ago:
Since 2008.
I’ve worked as a build engineer, application developer, web developer, product support, DevOps, etc.
I only ever had to worry about the limits, but never how it works in the background.
- Comment on IEEE 754 3 months ago:
The very wide majority of IT professionals don’t work on emulation or even system kernels. Most of us are doing simple applications, or working on supporting these applications, or their deployment and maintenance.
- Comment on IEEE 754 3 months ago:
LOL! Man I learned that in college and never used it ever again. I never came across any scenarios in my professional career as a software engineer where knowing this was useful at all outside of our labs/homework.
Anyone got any example where this knowledge became useful?
