I switched banks because of this, from a local credit union to an online only bank. I hate that I had to, but the random online bank treats me better and charges me less
- Comment on NCSoft president: "The games industry's evolution towards acceptance and diversity is ongoing" 3 months ago:
Black Girl Games is one of several consulting companies that promote more diversity in games and other media. Not to exclude white people completely.
Let’s see what we can agree on here, please stop me when you disagree with my statement.
-
Racism still exists and is a problem in the world today
-
The best tool we have against racism is knowledge and exposure to other cultures and ethnicities
-
Having more than two or three AAA games with a main character that is a minority will give gamers that first hand experience with the represented culture
-
Therefore, more representation is good for combating racism and as an extra benefit is giving more diverse worlds/stories to play
-
There are still a metric buttload of games with white main characters or character creators that let you be white
-
Minorities will be happy to see themselves represented
-
Diversity is not the enemy, and companies are trying to level the playing field, not erase white people
I want to know specifically what your problem with dei efforts are so we can clear up any confusion.

Yes 400k would be surprising. But if the claim is true and he never missed a day in 27 years of working there, and Burger King gave him a goodie bag? That’s on the other end of surprising, like that’s an incredible feat and seriously impressive loyalty to the company. It should be rewarded with something a little more substantial imo

Well if you think about it, you can actually give money to those in poverty by instead just giving that money to the rich. Because it just trickles down. So I think we should start this program with the rich people, and wait for some sort of trickling down effect to occur very soon. Any day now.

- Comment on Fable - Xbox Games Showcase 2024 5 months ago:
Yeah the bigots didn’t ask me why I called them bigots. But I asked you. If they did ask, I’d tell them it’s because of how they make fun of women and trans people for existing. But you didn’t really care about that, you just wanted to start something. Not worth my time tho, goodbye.
- Comment on Fable - Xbox Games Showcase 2024 5 months ago:
It’s a woman main character in the trailer. Some loud, annoying gamers have a problem with that. Also that she isn’t super conventionally sexy, and is a representation of an average woman. And some people are calling her trans and not in a pro LGBT way.
Someone here made a comment about sweet baby inc, which is a company that works with game studios to help encourage diversity, which is apparently the end of the world for the people who call everything new “woke” unironically
- Comment on Fable - Xbox Games Showcase 2024 5 months ago:
Why?
- Comment on Fable - Xbox Games Showcase 2024 5 months ago:
This trailer is really bringing out the bigots, especially in the YouTube comments. It sucks that the gaming community, literally based on having fun, can be so toxic
- Comment on Is lemmy now what reddit used to be 10+ years ago? 5 months ago:
Incredible what it looks like outside your bubble huh? Lemmy has different instances so everyone can build a community without nearly as much potential censorship like Reddit. This is the community that naturally formed, so maybe what you call “far left propaganda” the rest of the world calls “normal”

What a fascinating conspiracy theory. Interesting that you specify ngo, government agency, and government projects. Also interesting that you call it “woke/gender/diversity”. If you don’t mind me asking, where did you hear of this concept originally?

Yeah, it should be more like America, land of the free and happy, where suicide rates are lower!
- Comment on Star Citizen's first-person shooting is getting backpack-reloading, dynamic crosshairs, procedural recoil, and other improvements to 'bring the FPS combat to AAA standard' 8 months ago:
Every person I know who’s spent money on star citizen seems happy with their RoI
Every person you know personally? Most comment sections I’ve seen discussing Star Citizen seems to have at least one or two people who are unhappy with their roi. Personally, I don’t feel like I’ve been able to get my full money’s worth yet. I think I will some day, I know it’s more than a tech demo, but the gameplay isn’t quite there yet and the game is still really buggy and unoptimized.
If they can release Squadron 42 this year or next, I think that’d really start to turn things around for them more than anything else
- Comment on This ad that says “Wake up! A beach house is not a dream.” 10 months ago:
Obviously nonsense. Israel hasn’t already pushed Palestinians out of 90% of their own land. That last 10% tho, totally safe. No reason to think they’ll keep pushing them out of their homes, especially when their companies are “joking” about doing it.
Keep defending apartheid tho, you’re going great

This might also be a generational question. Ask a kid, they might answer Miles. Ask a millennial or older who grew up with Parker primarily, likely a different answer

They don’t need someone to save them, because cities have less gun violence per capita then rural areas. All those guns don’t save you. And I say this as someone from a small town.
