I think you’re missing the point here. This is about research being locked behind a paywall that causes it to not be used.

The turnip won. It definitely helped

Yea… I’m kinda seeing that. It’s not a hard concept lol it’s a paper receipt. Toss it away if you’re worried about it.

Musk literally bought peoples votes…there are plenty of people who have no morals and absolutely would vote how they’re paid.

What’s stopping this now? Vote buying would happen regardless of a system.

The problem is, that it’s either a system with checks or you get a system with no checks fraud.
This would still be anonymous, you vote, it prints out a ticket number just for you not assigned to anyone but the votes that have been cast. You walk out of the voting booth with a ticket that has a number assigned to the votes nothing more.

All votes really need a numbered receipt, like a tracking number, that shows what that number voted for, and then posted publicly. This way if you think you’re vote was changed you can go and look online to see if it matches how you voted…but doubt this would ever be put in place.
- Comment on Founder of Arkane Studios: "I think Gamepass is an unsustainable model that has been increasingly damaging the industry for a decade"; impacts sales 4 days ago:
They need to bring back demos. It would help a ton if they did, but it seems so many companies and devs just completely skip the idea. I think some of it has to do with companies who kinda know their games aren’t going to be worth a fuck so they want people to buy at full price, so they’re not going to release a demo. Same with not releasing the game to reviewers early.
- Comment on How do you even find companies to work with ? 5 days ago:
Yea but you’re still finding connections outside of LinkedIn. People join LinkedIn and expect that it’s some great recruiting platform, when it’s just turned into a massive social media circle jerk again.
- Comment on How do you even find companies to work with ? 5 days ago:
Stay off LinkedIn. It’s nothing but Facebook for people to act like they’re CEOs. It’s literally filled with people who are either working some basic job or not working at all or are some grifter. It’s a worthless site. Use job sites and find companies that look like you would enjoy working for them. Then apply and bug them for an internship. Once you get your foot into the industry, start networking with colleagues to jump to the next opportunity and just keep doing that until you find a company and people you like to work with that pays enough that you’ll stay a while. Also if you’re going to school ask your professors and classmates if they know of any opportunities that you could do for your field. It’s a lot of shitty ground work for a few years but once you establish yourself it’ll get much easier to land new positions and better pay.
- Comment on 7 year old PC. CPU is getting WICKED hot (up to 100 C) while playing games. is there any software that can underclock/undervolt it? 1 week ago:
Thermal grease can last for a good while now. The older stuff would cake up and not be able to transfer heat as well. New stuff is pretty incredible, I retired my AM4 build about 6 months ago, and I’d had the same CPU in it for around 5 years without changing the paste. Pulled the cooler and it was pretty much the same consistency as when I put it on. This was some kronaught stuff.

Making old man noises is great. It’s a dopamine hit once you’re past 40, even if you’re in great shape. I make them all the time but am in better shape now past 40 than I was in my 20s. Farm strong.

I must be missing the joke or something? That’s literally what this is. It’s an AP not a directional antenna. I have used a ton of directional antennas. Hell I have one that I’m using to get my network to my garage which is 1/4 of a mile away.
- Comment on Protection 2 weeks ago:
That’s just an AP. That’s not a directional antenna for a wireless bridge. You can even read the AP sticker on it.
- Comment on Nier creator Yoko Taro reveals the sad reality of modern AAA game development, “there’s less weird people making games” 2 weeks ago:
That’s true. I was more commenting on how good a game it was though, but I do think it’s peak story for me. KCD series is second. There hasn’t been another game for me that had such a crazy twist in it than spec ops.

Dunno why you’re being downvoted, that game was insanely good. Mediocre shooter, but the story was amazingly good.

Traveling by ICE in Europe was fucking awesome. 300kph and like $10 euro to go basically anywhere…well 15 years ago it was that cheap. Dunno about now. And I say this as a gear head.
- Comment on In this day and age is it possible to create a commune? With majority of vegetables coming from one acre and all put in to get wifi to our subdivision? So the bill is not that high? 3 weeks ago:
Yea 1acre will not grow shit for more than a few people to enjoy food from randomly.
- Comment on Why do some people hate drinking water? 3 weeks ago:
It’s not that they’re mutually exclusive, it’s that they do change your taste for a lot of people to the point that water just tastes off. So they’re less inclined to reach for water vs a sugary/fizzy drink.
- Comment on Why do some people hate drinking water? 3 weeks ago:
Yep, you basically gotta force yourself to drink it. I was this way, then about 12 years ago, I stopped drinking fizzy/sugary drinks and went over to water. Took me a good month + to get used to it, but I literally feel 1000xs better just chugging H2O all day. Plus it taste way better now, and sugar/fizzy drinks are way to sweat for me.

Drinking every day is what they call a social alcoholic. People drink so much now they made a new definition of it.
- Comment on Cyberpunk 2 is now in preproduction, CD Projekt says 1 month ago:
That’s true, I think those who didn’t follow the dev cycle and ate into the hype probably enjoyed the game a ton more than those of us who did and then got the absolute trash day one launch.
- Comment on Cyberpunk 2 is now in preproduction, CD Projekt says 1 month ago:
Agreed, even then though, it’s still got the npc feel. Gta6 is supposed to fix this, but I’m not holding my breath.
- Comment on Cyberpunk 2 is now in preproduction, CD Projekt says 1 month ago:
It’s still like that though, the city just feels like it’s just a bunch of npcs standing around. 3am? Same people just wandering around or sitting/leaning somewhere. I really don’t know of a game that has any dynamic npc systems. It’s all just scripted a to b and that’s it.
