It’s a little inaccurate, Denmark is south of of Norway and Sweden, not south of Finland.

Nobody claimed they’re genetically manipulated humans. They’re organic but man-made, and apparently it’s very hard to tell the difference to a real human except through emotional responses.
- Comment on temperature 8 months ago:
Anything below 0F is really cold for a human, and anything above 100F is really hot.
Therefore the perfect temperature would be 50°F, which is 10°C, in my opinion a little too cold to be perfect, I’d prefer something in the 15-20°C range.

No, please start at absolute zero, then you get negative infinity.

But what if roses and tulips are native to their region? Not everyone lives in some former european colony.

It’s not like news is just politics. Today a helicopter (yeah yeah, it was an Osprey, not a regular helicopter, whatever) with a bunch of US soldiers crashed in Australia and I can read about it in German and French news, this most certainly doesn’t affect me at all.
- Comment on [OC] My feeling as European reading news on Lemmy/Reddit 1 year ago:
To be honest, I’ve just checked the “Top Day” sorting of /c/world@lemmy.world, and the news are all about non-USA topics.
And now go on !news@lemmy.world, there’s no indication that it’s US news only, yet it’s almost all US news.
- Comment on Do they also know C++ or Python? 1 year ago:
I suppose there are two related reasons:
- older people (but also quite a lot of young people) don’t speak english that well, they would have problems understanding and dubbing has been done for so long that they expect it
- there are enough german speakers that it’s worth dubbing instead of just subtitling
- Comment on Do they also know C++ or Python? 1 year ago:
For a lot of african countries english and french are more administrative languages. More and more people learn them as they’re used in schools, but in everyday life other languages dominate. Calling them english speaking countries may be correct as english is the “official” language, but that’s not the whole picture.

Regarding media, I can get almost anything I want in a dubbed or translated version, even some youtubers provide dubbed versions of their videos.

Lower budgets would probably be better. High budgets mean high risk, developers and publishers try to minimize that risk and you get bland games that try to cater to too many tastes. Movies suffer from the same problem. They get budgets in the hundreds of millions and you wonder what they spent it all for.

small towns like Boulder Colorado
Boulder has a population of around 100k, I wouldn’t call it small or a town.
