- Comment on Ubisoft says you "cannot complain" it shut down The Crew because you never actually owned it, and you weren't "deceived" by the lack of an offline version 1 week ago:
Playing devil’s advocate here: both lines are consistent with them owning the games. We just rent them for a while, and own nothing. But pirating is taking what they own without paying - i.e. stealing.

I would agree if not for the flagrant grammatical error. That is a huge turnoff.

I finished the Siege of Dragonspear and even Black Pits expansions of Baldur’s Gate 1, and have now started Baldur’s Gate 2 Shadows of Amn.
I’m not far in yet (chapter two) but already get the feeling this is much deeper and has many more options than the first game - which was already quite good. I think I’m going to like this one.

Well then we just kill all the Beholders and voila, no more evil.
- Comment on Funko, BrandShield speak out about itch.io takedown 4 months ago:
I’m very interested in what the offending page looked like. itch.io in the first reports seemed to suggest it was a false positive, without outright saying so. Both Funko and BrandShield are quiet about it, but between the lines you can infer they think the AI tool’s report was legitimate.
- Comment on Blizzard is delisting the OG Warcrafts from GOG, but GOG says it's gonna preserve them forever anyway, hands out a discount, and announces new policy for its preservation program to boot 4 months ago:
Which GOG makes possible by offering DRM-free and offline installers.
I know several big GOG customers download all offline installers and keep them on their own NAS. Some even keep the different versions.

I always go into stores to throw stuff from the racks onto the floor, to make sure the people whose job it is to clean that up stay employed.
I never buy anything of course, I don’t want stuff that’s been on the floor!
- Comment on I love diablo-likes, but they're also really annoying. 6 months ago:
I was very excited when they announced GW2. Sadly it is a very different game from the first one, and while I can still enjoy the story, it is not really a game for me.
- Comment on I hate how anything without "world" in its name is just about the US 6 months ago:
But I would argue that the rest of the world also uses primarily English online. And just by virtue of being the rest of the world, outnumbers the Americans.
In other words, of all Internet users that use English, the vast majority is likely not American.
Of course I don’t have data to back this up, except anecdotally.
- Comment on I hate how anything without "world" in its name is just about the US 6 months ago:
I’m sorry but this is nonsense. I’m in a lot of online communities where everyone uses English, despite it being nearly nobody’s first language. It just happens to be the only language that everyone there knows. Language is no indication of nationality, especially online.
And to be honest, in those places the assumption is usually that everyone is European, which I can imagine is just as annoying for the stray American.

People like your art director are the reason people like my product manager want us to write code to verify QR codes, so that our clients can tell their clients that they forgot the quiet zone and their client’s clients may have trouble reading the code.
Damn that’s a lot of levels of clients.

- Comment on How come liberals dont hate conservatives the way conservatives hate liberals 11 months ago:
You should really ask the same question - or its inverse - in a conservative forum. If you only ask it here, you’ll get a very skewed answer.
And to be honest, the question itself and the wording shows your bias as well. Whenever something about US politics is posted on Lemmy, there are always comments about how “they” are hate-filled people, how “they” are projecting, how “they” want to rape children. It’s a different expression of that hatred, but it is the same hatred.
