I took a look at Nostr a while ago and was not impressed. The tech seems marvelous but the content was mostly crypto shills and other scams.

The years passed, mankind became stupider at a frightening rate. Some had high hopes the genetic engineering would correct this trend in evolution, but sadly the greatest minds and resources where focused on conquering hair loss and prolonging erections.
- Comment on Anon goes to a donut shop 3 months ago:
Anon is locked into self directed attention showing him his shame when considering that there is a whimsical part of himself known as the chocolate man inside himself. Why this makes him ashamed is not specified. I speculate that there is a belief that if other people knew he would be the subject of ridicule.

- Comment on Why are fuel perks at grocery stores so ubiquitous? 4 months ago:
It’s probably because the grocery store is part of a larger chain where most of the locations are in the burbs and the people who shop there are dependent on cars more than the city dwellers, and they don’t see the point of not having the program rolled out across the board.

Not quite a samurai movie, but Sancho The Bailiff is a period piece about slavery in feudal Japan that is both gorgeous and heartbreaking. I don’t think I’d watch it a second time because it’s so painful but what a great film!

In the main mental health manual called the DSM there is a category of personality disorders, and cluster b is a subset of those disorders containing narcissism, borderline and histrionic personality disorders all of which share in common that they predispose the person who has them to act in “dramatic and erratic” ways.

- Comment on 4ish years ago when I bought a house I was convinced not to get a house inspection, would it be crazy to get one now just to make sure it's all good? 5 months ago:
Great answer. You want to keep on that home maintenance and not let it get too bad. Reconstruction is crazy expensive.
- Comment on The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power - Official Teaser Trailer | Prime Video 5 months ago:
I liked it, but it’s not exactly canon, but that is also not exactly the fault of the show runners who had limited material to work with due to the Tolkien Estate apparently. I kind of liked how they handled Sauron and what they did to humanize the Orcs.

From the wiki page
During the late 1930s, Lamarr attended arms deals with her then-husband arms dealer Fritz Mandl, “possibly to improve his chances of making a sale”.[41] From the meetings, she learned that navies needed “a way to guide a torpedo as it raced through the water.” Radio control had been proposed. However, an enemy might be able to jam such a torpedo’s guidance system and set it off course.[42] When later discussing this with a new friend, composer and pianist George Antheil, her idea to prevent jamming by frequency hopping met Antheil’s previous work in music. In that earlier work, Antheil attempted synchronizing note-hopping in the avant-garde piece written as a score for the film Ballet Mechanique that involved multiple synchronized player pianos. Antheil’s idea in the piece was to synchronize the start time of identical player pianos with identical player piano rolls, so the pianos would be playing in time with one another. Together, they realized that radio frequencies could be changed similarly, using the same kind of mechanism, but miniaturized.[4][41]

Nuanced thinking is the problem? Nope. Black and white thinking is the problem. Like the black and white thinking you are displaying here, by refusing to parse any policy decisions beyond “he supports genocide”. If you can’t distinguish between the greater and the lesser evil you’ll end up inadvertently supporting the greater evil.
