Interesting! Yeah the early 3d era had very unforgiving controls all things considered, usually as a result of camera systems not reaching maturity. You sorta have to plan your movement around what it’s good at and lots of newer age gamers aren’t keen on what can feel like a big step backwards. They might like SOH better though! Much more customisable controls and camera

I feel like N64 games have aged well in the same way that NES games have aged well. They’re both primative and compromised, and you either like the effect that has or you don’t. I think most people would agree that blurry textures and low resolutions are pretty ugly for 3D and I see why, but the low detail looks uncluttered and easy to parse, and everything being so angular is a fun exaggeration which I like as its own style. I guess I have a pet hate for people talking like it’s not valid as an art style, and I feel like that may have been how NES games were treated in the years after its obsolesence, now 8 bit pixel art is just funky and cool, and has been for decades.
I’ve been playing DK64 again with the new PC recomp, and now I can play it at 60FPS I have been appreciating the texture work, seeing it at stable framerates it looks so much prettier, a lot of the environments and some enemies have baked in lighting in the textures and while it’s still low poly some stuff feels closer to PS2 vibes than N64, I’d say they took the visuals to a much higher level than any other retail N64 game I’ve seen

My interpretation is that the shadow is not representative of the kids visual imagination, the visuals are an analogy for the depth and richness of their thinking, including perhaps a bit of visual imagination but also everything else.
Also lol this is an edit the boy is watching 1 man 1 jar, don’t look it up if you’ve gone this long blissfully unaware

Yeah I agree, I even think nintendo’s has a bigger nostalgia market with parents who will buy it for their kids.
I think a lot (or at least a lot of the more vocal) older fans will realise that a ground up remake isn’t going to hit the same mark gameplay wise, a mixed bag no matter what for a game with a cult following like oot

I just finished too! Nowhere near 100%, as I was reaching the end I felt pretty OP so decided I would go completionist in NG+.
Probably my favourite game released in the last couple of years though, chefs kiss

I would definitely pull the lever, it looks like AI designed the track to crash into itself. Is this how AI will save the world, through it’s own incompetence? 😝

Wish I hadn’t read the full page and found out about a dolphin’s suicide… They ran out of funding and let the dolphin’s living conditions deteriorate

What’s not working? If any amount of midi is being picked up then you may need to remap, otherwise you might need drivers for the usb, or need to use a hardware usb midi box instead of usb

Depending on your country. It’s easy to get in Australia, there may be programs in your country to get it to you for a discount or free.
There are also things like doxy pep, antibiotics taken before and after exposure to bacterial infections which are only prescribed to people with, shall we say, high volume sex lives to offset the cost/benefit ratio of taking possibly uneccesary antibiotics
