Being that it’s a known game and this is a sequel you may very well be right.

Also very true. I’ll just wait.

But what they don’t take into account is that 75% all at once creates an excitement buzz around the game that ends up causing even more sales then would ever happen otherwise. Look at games like Pokémon go or PalWorld that generated so much buzz. I tried both of them because of the hype and I normally wouldn’t have bothered otherwise.

Money means different things to different people. Look at it this way:
A person is a billionaire and they buy your son a car worth $90k. That would be equivalent to if you make $100k and decide to purchase something for $9. Would you care if your son spent $9 on a friend?
I understand your reservations as I would have them too. But keep in mind, giving your kid that kind of access to a network of that level is priceless. As long as the friend isn’t making your son feel subservient or lesser in any way, I’d leave it be.
My only concern is that kids that come from that kind of money, have access to very expensive lawyers, and therefore take risks most people wouldn’t take. I have seen it happen in person where I live (well used to live). It was an affluent neighborhood and sometimes the kids of these affluent people were complete obnoxious assholes. Not all of them, but definitely a statistically significant portion. That’s what I would be more concerned with. Just my 2¢.

Thank you. I never knew what this abomination was called. I’ve seen several trucks around here (rural NC) that look like this. Now I have a name to hate. 🤣

And even then it’s sometimes impossible because how much can you keep in your head at once. Everybody specializes on these large projects. I may have 30000 ft view of how things operate but getting down into specifics can be hard. I have some intimate knowledge of the learning management system we develop for, which is way less complex than most games, and there are always little gotchas when you make code or architecture changes.
- Comment on Calling on lemmy.world to defederate with feddit.de 5 weeks ago:
I agree with the first statement, because it’s entirely true. And I even agree that constant threat of defederation being a problem with Lemmy in general, but there is so much wrong logically wrong with the rest of this comment it makes my brain hurt. How can they be nazis and not allow nazis at the same time? And why would you even want the noise of constant nazi propaganda in the first place?

If I had a gun in each hand, a bandolier full of knives, and a satchel full of grenades, I might be able to take down a gorilla. But likely not before he kills me first.

I’ve meet Mensa members. Im not sure I wanna be in that group. Not all of them, but A LOT of them.
Here’s a hint. You’ve heard of gaydar right. It’s like a separate sense that some gay people claim they have in being able to detect if others are of a similar fashion? (Yes I understand this could viewed as insensitive but my old gay friends still use it and it’s to illustrate a point so bear with me). Well smart people have it too. Granted I’m not genius level or anything but I can tell when others are what I would consider highly intelligent or necessarily aren’t. Don’t get me wrong, less intelligent people can be interesting AF, but you can usually tell. I sure as shit don’t need a membership to a group I have to pay to join to prove it. If I feel the need to join Mensa to prove I’m intelligent, doesn’t that sorta defeat the purpose?
