The books (since they all share the old testament in one way or another) talk about it, us being good shepards and responsible for all beings. Just a little, but it is there. Somewhere in the beginning.
It’s just that we’re assholes and if something doesn’t fit our narrative we ignore it.
Just like all the books make killing crime no 1, but we go “yeah, no” when it suits us. (in war you may kill because i say so and you may kill that Israeli, westerner or arab because they are subhuman unbelievers/desert rags.)
The commandments are very clear and there are no exceptions possible according to the book. But we made those up anyway. Which is weird. Here we have the guiding principles of being, given to us by god and we choose to disregard them. Sometimes even in the name of god/allah/Jahweh.
Disclaimer: not an active Christian. Just had to go to a lot of sunday school in my day.

So… If i read this correctly… The net difference is zero? Except when I’m being an asshole and I dont tip.
So in the end, this boils down to offering the option of being an asshole to your customers.
As an european I always find this discussion weird. And when visiting stateside I never really can “gauge” what I should tip. Am i in a joint which underpays the server? Is (s)he fine? Is 10% enough? More? Should i just make it whole? I just never know. I sometimes even have resorted to just bluntly ask the server or a patron what is customary. (my weird accent helps getting an honest answer)
It’s quite honestly a shit fest. There is an amount on the billl… But that isnt the real amount, except when you’re an asshole. And if you over tip you’re still an asshole, just a stupid one, and if you’re undertip you’re also an asshole.
Come to think about it: it really boils down to which kind of asshole do you want to be.

- Comment on Is Lemmy an effective alternative to Reddit? 2 months ago:
No. Lemmy posts are always left leaning. There is no right and no center. Thats disheartening. Next to that most communities are too small so no viable discussions follow. Most communities die in months.
Then again, reddit.com doesnt exist anymore because some schmucks have taken over, resulting in obtrusive ads, profiling and tracking.
I dont post on reddit anymore. Still follow some subs though because they just dont have an alternative.
I went from 1 source (reddit) to several(lemmy, mastodon, 4chan, 9gag). And still it feels empty. Mostly because while some memes are nice, 4chan is filled with morons and 9gag… That’s a “racist app” according to its own users. But it doesn’t stop there. A lot of posts there are just vile. Not just right wing nut job, no, they are worse. And masto is mostly the same as lemmy.

In dutch they are literally called sea-hedgehog. (zee-egel)
So, while latin and all is nice, there’s always the dutch way of “doe maar normaal dan doe je gek genoeg”. Which translates into: just behave as regular, that’s more than enough excitement.

Ideal is not the same, by any means, as PayPal. Read up.
With ideal you loose your money. Ideal is made from the pov of the bank and the shop selling you stuff. Its almost impossible to claim your money back without the sellers consent.
Tikkie is not the same as PayPal since tikkie only works with EU banks. (and quite possibly at this moment only NL banks) PayPal does not need a bank account. Its also not really a wrapper around ideal but thats another discussion. And mostly a semantic one so lets not go there.

Clancy Brown was way more impactfull then Lambert.
The amount of Highlander quotes you still hear to this day are mostly those of The kurgan.
Connery and Brown carried that movie. Lambert just went along for the ride.
Remember our agreement, Murdoch. The boy… Is mine.
The way how Clancy just spits out these one liners, in that growling voice. It’s bloody fantastic. Cavill as mcloud is good and all, but it’s all about who they cast for the Kurgan and Ramirez. And that they don’t fuck the story up too much.

It’s more that you have to go out of your way to design a device these days with such horrendous throughput. Nobody else even thinks about it. Usb3 isn’t really more expensive to include then 2. They’re just isn’t any design reason besides fuck the EU to make it like this.
And that’s what makes it newsworthy. The Fuck the EU part.

tbf pc gaming was always a fight for performance, I never felt superior back in the day fighting with qemm, irqs for the soundblaster or glide3d, it’s always had been a shitshow. It was a super shitshow in the nineties, it was a bit better in the zero’s and nowadays it again became a tad better.
But somehow I enjoyed that shitshow. Still do.

I see exactly what I expected. I didn’t bought the hysteria on Youtube/insta/TK.
And I didn’t preorder the game because of that hysteria. The Hysteria looked a lot like the Cyberpunk Fiasco. Realistic expectations., we seem to have lost that capability with upcomingh video games. When something sounds too good, It is.
I don’t know what you saw Todd say where but I just read some interviews like this one: ign.com/…/todd-howard-interview-starfield-sgf-202… And in nothing i’ve red from him even resembling the hype around this game.
TH: “We do lock it at 30 [FPS], because we want that fidelity, we want all that stuff.”
That means 1 thing: not a real action game, more in line of FO4, maybe NMS like but more like RDR. A dogfight @30FPS is over before it starts. Beauty is more important then speed for this game.
Speaking about RDR, TH: “So I think it also as a flow, probably has more of a feeling of a [Red Dead Redemption 2]”
Here you have it literally:: a game like RDR. Not NMS. Not Elite. Not StarCitizen. But like RDR. That means that the ships are more of a means of transport then a real gameplay mechanic. And space is just the theme.
TH: “this is like five or six games in one, right? It’s the spaceship game, it’s the on the ground game, it’s just a dialogue game, it’s an outpost game, it’s a crafted game. It does all of these things, and so… And it always is tricky for us to get a good game flow where those things don’t feel like they’re separate game”
That means the spaceship part is not front and center. All these things he states are just pieces for a standard RPG:
- Ground game: Loot and shoot.
- Dialogue game: standard RPG.
- Outpost game: base building.
- Crafting? Standard part of every RPG in the last decade.
Add to that it’s build with the Bethesda engine. We know it’s capabilities for what… 2 decades? We flew in FO4. But we didn’t steer… It was on rails
This all meantin my mind that the spaceship part had to be a transportation mini game.
So reading the official stuff, I always expected a mix between FO4 and Mass Effect. With a mobile “base” (your ship) with maybe some light spaceship combat. Sprinkled with some exploration.
Not a game which morphed all those separate game types. Just an FP/3rd p ARPG set in a cool science fiction universe.
