- Comment on A lot of people who try to start a religion are seen as mentally ill. Like Jim Jones, David Koresh, the UFO guy, and L Ron Hubbard. Then could it be a safe bet that Jesus was mentally ill? 21 hours ago:
Fictional characters are whatever authors write them to be.
- Comment on How come cops who are trained in guns shoot to kill all the time? Even people who have no gun. Why not go in with your hand on the taser, and ready just in case to shoot someone in the leg? 2 days ago:
Other people have said it: guns are to kill, use something else if you’re trying to incapacitate.
I just wanted to add that their training probably sucks other than practice at the range. When I got my (non-law enforcement) firearm permit, it’s basically a braindead written test where you can easily guess all the answers without studying and then it asks you if you’ve ever done any illegal drugs lmao
- Comment on For those who are super against to AI/LLM today. What was the catalyst how did you reach to this point? If you have the power to change our current situation what would you do. 1 week ago:
The couple times I’ve actually used LLMs, it was comically wrong.
I asked it to write some pyqt code and it made up things that didn’t exist. It wasted my time and was worse than useless.
And then I tried a Starcraft 2 replay analyzer/coach LLM. It told me 4 spores (anti-air defense structures) was too many to defend against 2 banshees (air to ground attack airplane). In the next sentence it told me I needed 2 per base, of which I had 4. So it told me 4 was too many but 8 was the right amount.
Now I turn it off everywhere and avoid it. My brain works and I don’t need computers to lie to me.

Title is inaccurate, it was not released as open source software, it was released as Free software. This shit’s GPL3!
- Comment on After updating CachyOS, I am unable to play games as easily as before. How do I fix it? 2 weeks ago:
Why not restore from backup? That’s what it’s there for. You don’t have to roll back absolutely everything. The rare times I have this kind of issue on Endeavour, I restore from backup and then upgrade packages one at a time until I figure out which one broke my shit. Then I just ignore that package for a while and update everything else.
- Comment on Does it seem like US presidents just throw a dart on a spinning globe and say he lets start fucking with this or that country? Used to be arbitrary, now it seems the GOV no longer lie just do. 4 weeks ago:
Pretty much: “Every ten years or so, the United States needs to pick up some small crappy little country and throw it against the wall, just to show the world we mean business,” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Ledeen
- Comment on What’s your favorite video game that most people didn’t like ?? 5 weeks ago:
I followed it’s development a tiny bit, I knew it was in development hell, that things kept getting redone, and then some other company stepped in and actually finished and shipped it. I was expecting it to be bad. The worst thing I have to say for it is it’s a console port. It was fun, it was whacky, it had decent combat although I’m not a fan of the halo style hide to recharge your health.

- Comment on What gaming console you owned disappointed you the most and why ? 1 month ago:
Tiger GameCom. I really think it had a lot of potential and was ahead of its time. They didn’t make a lot of games for it and it was underpowered. Some really cool ideas though, it was the first touch-screen anything I had. It had 2 game cartridge slots. It had built in utilities, tools, and games.

Good, I’m sick of playing lowest common denominator console ports. Develop for PC and let the consoles have the degraded experience, not the other way around!

- Comment on Blizzard reportedly partnering with Arc Raiders owner Nexon to revive StarCraft as a shooter 4 months ago:
I watch both and I think Brood War is more interesting to watch because there are more fights that last longer and the RNG factor means you can’t tell how the fight is going to go before it happens. There are a lot of tense and exciting moments in Brood War compared to SC2. How many shots will miss when shooting up a cliff? Will this mine detonate and kill 3 dragoons? How long will it take the player to notice that a DT is slaughtering drones without a notification? Will the reaver shot connect or dud? Will the scourges connect?
Basically SC2 is a lot easier to play with very little RNG. Pro players don’t even attack each other early anymore because every cheese is solved. Brood War has a really good rock/paper/scissors balance that has shockingly lasted 25 years with no real balance patches. Also the game was remastered and the graphics are beautiful now.

There very much is still a scene and it’s pretty popular! The meta continues to change which is insane for such an old and allegedly “figured out” game. I see pros using units in matchups that I thought were completely unplayable. There’s a new funky half-island map (Roaring Currents aka Screaming Seas) that has shown some really wild games. I’m rambling, please check it out here: www.youtube.com/@SOOPesports_EN
I play Starcraft 2 today, but freely admit that Brood War is way more entertaining to watch!
