- Comment on GOG seems to be considering paid membership option 2 days ago:
I’d be happy if they did and adopted Heroic as an official launcher. However, if that happens, I’d still want proper controller support to be added so that browsing the GOG store in Heroic doesn’t require mouse and keyboard bindings on something like a Steam Deck.
- Comment on GOG seems to be considering paid membership option 2 days ago:
Because I use a Steam Deck and having a launcher for third-party stores is the easiest way to install games.
Additionally, the reasons mentioned in the other comments.
- Comment on GOG seems to be considering paid membership option 2 days ago:
Anything but properly supporting the Linux community 🤡
How have they still not learned that the largest intersection of the people that care about their core value proposition (game preservation, DRM-free, etc.) are Linux users?? It’s not like they have to create the compatibility layers from scratch; Valve did it for them.
If they provided a launcher for Linux users, I’d actually buy shit from them. Yes, Heroic Launcher exists, but I’m not paying GOG for the work that the Heroic dev did. I want first-party support.

3 absolutely did. But that said, not all of the original tracks made it into the 1+2 remake, so I wouldn’t base whether or not you buy it on that.

Yes, with one caveat: it isn’t going to work like a lot of other distros when it comes to installing packages. If you need help, use the uBlue forums.
Otherwise, it’s great, and very stable.

I started disabling JavaScript by default with uBlock Origin a few months ago. I am surprised to report that a bunch of sites work fine without JavaScript.
There are definitely some sites that actually need it, and for those, it’s just one click to permanently allow for that site. But most of the sites I need work better with just CSS and HTML because there are no stupid nags or social media sign-in buttons that pop-up anymore.
- Comment on How do I avoid enshitification of my keyboard and mouse 5 months ago:
I have the ZSA Moonlander and Voyager keyboards. I like them a lot.
I also have the Ploopy Adept and Nano mice that also run QMK.
I bought all of them preassembled. I’d love to know what other brands are out there that sell preassembled peripherals that can run open firmware.
- Comment on How do I avoid enshitification of my keyboard and mouse 5 months ago:
+1 for Ploopy mice. I have the Ploopy Adept, and I’ll never go back to another mouse. They mostly make trackballs, but they do have a “regular” mouse if trackballs aren’t your thing.
The biggest problem with Ploopy is that they only seem to make mice for people with bigger hands, so if that’s not you, you’re kind of screwed :/
- Comment on How do I avoid enshitification of my keyboard and mouse 5 months ago:
Seriously. I’m really into keyboards with QMK, but I buy prebuilt keyboards and mice that are capable of running it because if using QMK required me to solder something, I wouldn’t be able to. Soldering is a skill that most people don’t have.

- Comment on After initially rejecting it, Apple has approved the first PC emulator for iOS 8 months ago:
UTM is not an emulator. It’s virtual machine software. It utilizes QEMU, which is an emulator, but they are different things.
It’s fine for laypeople to mix this up, but it’s annoying to see every tech headline get it wrong.
- Comment on Nintendo has DMCA’ed Sudachi’s GitHub 8 months ago:
Why are you being so obtuse? Yes, the repercussions for losing to Nintendo in court are life-ruining. I said that already.
However, continuing to let Nintendo DMCA legitimate emulation projects isn’t good in the long-term either and only stalls progress for the targeted projects.
The only way to “win” this fight is to win in court. I’m not saying that any dev should be compelled against their will to do so. It’s just the only way to actually make progress. This isn’t a technical problem; it’s a legal one.
- Comment on Nintendo has DMCA’ed Sudachi’s GitHub 8 months ago:
Gamers are only capable of remembering these things right up until the next first-party exclusive and new console gets announced. Then, it’s right back to opening their wallets for these fuckers.
The only way to truly win this fight is for the devs to face potentially life-ruining circumstances to fight it in court. Until then, Nintendo will continue harassing devs and killing progress in emulators.
- Comment on Millions of Taxpayers Call the IRS for Help. Two-Thirds Don't Reach Anyone 8 months ago:
IRS hold times are criminally long. “30-60 minutes” is what the IVR will say, but you’ll likely be waiting longer.
Combine that with the fact that they’re only taking calls Monday-Friday, and that means that if you’re working class (the only people that are actually taxed), you’ll be lucky to get through on one of your lunch breaks for that week. Otherwise, you’re screwed.

- Comment on GOG Summer Sale has arrived 9 months ago:
Reporting back:
I tried installing The Witcher and Psychonaut. Both worked mostly seemlessly after prompting to install Wine-GE. The main issue I’m having is with controller support, but this may just be a result of trying much older games and mixing that with trying to use Steam Input through the Heroic launcher. I suspect this can be alleviated by using the “Automatically add games to Steam” option and launching the games through Steam, rather than Heroic. Alternatively, if you’re willing to map your bindings for each game, or you are on something other than a Steamdeck and use keyboard and mouse, you should be fine.
I recommend giving a game you already own on Gog a try and seeing how it works for you.
- Comment on GOG Summer Sale has arrived 9 months ago:
I’ve heard that the Heroic launcher is good for this. I’ll try it out on my Steamdeck and report back.
- Comment on Apple Decides to Block Open-Source Emulator App for iOS 9 months ago:
This is just me being pedantic, but I keep seeing this mistake when UTM is mentioned (specifically in headlines), so I feel like I have to say something:
UTM is not an emulator. It is virtual machine software that uses an emulator (QEMU) to virtualize operating systems.
The difference: emulators emulate hardware. On which, the virtualized operating systems run.

Do you have a source for this? I was interested in this device until I heard this, but I haven’t found anything that states what the display technology actually is.
The closest thing I’ve found to being suspicious is that their site uses terms like “paper-like finish”, which doesn’t seem too out-of-the-norm for this category of device, and they have marketing photos implying that usability in the sun is on-par with other e-ink devices.
