if I did, I would have to be obliged and follow their cultures
This doesn’t seem true to be. There is no culture police who will come and enforce the way you live your life to follow the norms of your ethnic label(s).
I don’t have a culture
This is impossible. Everyone has a culture. You may not follow all the cultural norms or traditions of where you are from, but it is guaranteed that who you are was impacted by the culture you were raised in. There is no such thing as neutral, otherwise you are saying your personal culture would fit in everywhere in the world (Mexico, USA, Italy, Russia, Japan, Philippines, etc).

A quick Google showed me a $40 smartphone from Walmart. Granted it’s probably pretty terrible, but it does go to show that they aren’t all priced like luxury toys. If you want a luxury branded phone, you’ll pay luxury prices.

I’ve been here since June, and it’s never had karma score calculated for the profile. My understanding was that they didn’t want to promote karma farming like is done on Reddit.
- Comment on What the hell is this shit? Instead of pushing for the return to traditional pensions, capitalism is celebrating the idea that Millennials & Gen Z may simply never be able to stop working. 1 year ago:
Why should people push for traditional pensions? I don’t want to be stuck at a crappy job just because leaving would reset my retirement clock. It’s the same reason healthcare shouldn’t be attached to the employer either.

- Comment on How can I practice being more emotionally available as a man? 1 year ago:
In addition to this, understanding the emotions you are experiencing and being able to put a name to them will help. A lot of cultural expectations pressure men to only feel anger/happiness, but there is so much more nuance. Being able to recognize that and, eventually, communicate it will be massive to this undertaking.
I’d recommend using something like an emotion wheel to define how you are feeling at any given moment in time.

I think if you are low on B6 you will definitely notice it. If your levels of B6 are fine, then you probably won’t notice a difference.
- Comment on What hobbies did you pick up during the pandemic and have you been able to keep them up? 1 year ago:
I got into doing yoga. I did it daily for about 9 months straight in 2020, and have never felt better. I go through phases now where I can keep it up, but I can also go a while without doing it. I wish I could get back into doing it daily because I feel so much better with the consistency.

These are all easily googleable items.
Or whatever, if you want to believe the US has zero redeeming qualities, then go right ahead. I’m kind of sick of talking to someone who has such a fucking negative outlook.

Yes off the top of my head our parks system is emulated world wide and generally the most impressive aspect for visitors of our country.
We also have unparalleled accessibility for people with disabilities. Try to get around Europe in a wheelchair. You won’t have a good time.
It is relatively easy to start a business.
We have the top universities in the world.
We are the best place in terms of medical R&D, as well as scientific research in general
We are above average in gender equality (though there are certainly places that are just as good or better). I wouldn’t want to be a woman in the middle east, for example.
We have the best road connectivity, though obviously quality of those roads could be improved.
We provide more humanitarian aid to foreign countries than anyone else (depending on your perspective this could be good or bad).
Should I go on?
- Comment on Is America Really That Bad? 1 year ago:
I think they should take what works and leave what doesn’t. There are a lot of great things about the US, alongside the not so great things. Why shouldn’t other countries emulate the things that are fantastic here (e.g. our national parks/public land programs as one example).
Just like we should look at things that work in other countries and see if they can improve QOL here. Every place in the world has its good qualities and bad. The US isn’t special in that regard.

Are all states is America bad?
This is their question. Read the post.
- Comment on Is America Really That Bad? 1 year ago:
I never said that we should let people suffer. You’re the one who needs to take a step back and stop raging.
OPs question is literally: “Are all states in the US that bad.” The answer is no, some states are obviously worse than others. It’s the shitty ones that get all the air time.
- Comment on Is America Really That Bad? 1 year ago:
The point is that people’s QOL is highly dependent on where in the US they live. Local laws have a much bigger impact to people’s quality of life than whatever happens in Washington. I did not lose my constitutional rights to an abortion because I live in a sane place. If I live somewhere like Texas, I would have.
The reason the rest of the world thinks the US is so terrible is that we act like the whole country is impacted the same way by national decisions. Or that all idiotic local laws apply to everyone the same way.
- Comment on Is America Really That Bad? 1 year ago:
There are state CONSTITUTIONS that protect this right, so no it’s not true.
- Comment on Is America Really That Bad? 1 year ago:
See, this just isn’t true. There are a number of states that have the right to abortion enshrined in their constitution. Others are voting to have it added to their constitutions. Just because it was removed nationally, doesn’t mean everyone lost that right.
Granted, it is absolutely a tragedy what is going on in the more backwards states. But things like this make it sound worse than the situation is nationwide. This is the issue the OP has. If you only see the negatives that are reported in the news, it sounds like the US is an absolute hellhole, which is not most people’s lived experience.
- Comment on Is this it? Is there anything more to life, am I missing something? 1 year ago:
That sounds like either a terrible work environment or depression.
I absolutely hated my first summer job in high school. Because of that, I found myself avoiding doing things I loved, because they made the time go faster which meant it was time to return to work that much faster. Once I quit, and for all other jobs I’ve had since then, I’ve never felt like that again. If you generally enjoy your job, I’d probably look into if you might be experiencing depression instead.
Hobbies and regular vacations are things that should give you energy for those more stressful times at work. Especially, regular physical hobbies are important for stress relief and staying energized. I had to take a 3 month break from my hobby sport earlier this year due to an injury and I absolutely felt terrible during that time.
