We were on a previous version, so that’s why. I think that’s actually what hypercharged this drama. If I had not fell back on my upgrade schedule for a while, I would have realized tesseract was doing blacklists early on, and the backlash was probably be orders of magnitude lower. But because he had time to build this up to this monster, when people discovered it, it was a huge deal.

Like I literally pointed out that they have a blacklist for instances. I didn’t even break the news about the second secret blacklist with usernames! All I did after is post 3 memes. But apparently I’m the master manipulator egging the whole fediverse smh.

Well, ok I’m afraid I’m really out of my depth here. It seems to read like the universe is expanding due to an unknown force acting on the 4th dimension (like the air coming in the balloon), but I can’t imagine what that would be. I always understood that the universe expansion is simply leftover momentum from the big bang

I don’t know much about astrophysics, but it seems to me the analogy breaks down. Unlike a balloon, the universe does not move on a medium, so the only way to surmise it’s size is by its edges (i.e. the objects at its farthest edges). So the important thing here is how fast those edges move (the dots, on the balloon) which can never be higher than the speed of light. What am I missing?

That’s what I meant. Since matter isn’t moving at the speed of light, if we assume the universe expansion is due to the movement of its edge objects, then it cannot expand faster than 2c. If the expansion is happening for a different unrelated reason than the edge objects ofc that’s something else

32g vram gpu for less than 2k is unlikely. A 4090 itself would be close to 2k

Banned admins can still see instance users from the instance that banned them, but in lemmy at least our moderation actions get silently dropped. I don’t know if that’s true of piefed, but if it is, it means that any malicious users from other instances we handle won’t be moderated when viewed by piefed. E.g a spammer’s posts would still remain visible on their side

Actually, they lost their server, not their domain. They couldn’t maintain the lemmy software ( I think the original admin lost interest or smt) and just gave up. They did open a failover comm for !freemediaheckyeah@lemmy.dbzer0.com but most of their active users didn’t have an interest in participating in lemmy over discord and reddit.

None of that is true. They were never defederated, nor did they receive a takedown (that I know of). They simply blocked the community out of an abundance of caution because they felt an image with a URL to the TLD of a pirate site is too risky.
