it will also of course remove overspray if you’re out of lacquer thinner and as a side bonus the fumes will later reveal that the paint shop didn’t prep for top coat what they “fixed” next to what you’re working on.
- Comment on 60% of PC gamers have no plans to build a new PC in the next two years — AI pricing crunch on RAM and other components paralyze enthusiast market 2 weeks ago:
For one build I made that mistake. I went with SFF partly due to motherboard and RAM shortages and i could barely upgrade it… I won’t do that again. But before that i would start at low to mid spec for components, a mobo and PSU with room to grow, and slowly max them out over time.
However, like i said in another reply it seems like i can repurpose less and less in later builds as tech evolves more rapidly these days and or I run into a wall with bottlenecking something or another even if i can upgrade a component. As a result I’m definitely taking a longer pause this time.

True. I guess it’s not completely purposeless as I’ll reuse and repurpose what i can. But for last build especially I could barely reuse any of it. GPU, increasing power reqs overall and avoiding bottlenecking seem to muck up that strategy the most. If anything i enjoy what feels like a huge leap in performance every time i build one.

I run my boxes for so long I end up having to basically build a whole new rig by the time it is obsolete thanks to socket, RAM and GPU changes. Feels like it almost defeats the purpose of rolling your own. I mostly just use my Steam Deck at this point. Tired of keeping up with all that combined with shortages.

- Comment on ‘Seeking connection’: the video game (Arc Raiders) where players stopped shooting and started talking... 1 month ago:
Noticed people talking about this for a while regarding Arc. For myself it seems as gaming became more accessible and streaming took off (especially on PC) the toxicity and trolling in games with social features increased exponentially. As a result I now deliberately avoid games with any kind of PVP if it’s not separate or solo-able, and I disable chats and voice out of habit unless i’m with clanmates. I don’t even give it a chance. I ignore people in open world or “live” games in pve areas for the most part as well.
During the ps3/360 era i could join random games and meet interesting people and most were just normal. Not sure what console atmosphere is like now since i stopped buying them.
Hopefully this becomes more of the norm.
- Comment on Amazon’s idea of improving Luna involves stripping back most of it 1 month ago:
Didn’t even know it existed until they pulled the plug on their MMO. Didn’t seem to be any marketing for it. After taking a quick glance I could see why, it was pretty… lacking in comparison to competitors. And now they want to strip more away? Just drop the sunsetting theatrics and let it die.
- Comment on Street Fighter 6’s Latest DLC Ending Is Upsetting Fans Because Alex Marries His Sister-Cousin 2 months ago:
Kinda funny considering how unapologetically vapid the early games were. The endings were so short and corny. Almost like the devs were forced to put them in. Now it has come to this. Crazy.

I love when they do this because it saves us the effort of determining legitimacy. If shows how they really feel. It removes the pomp and circumstance of pretending to be real news. But I’m done reiterating my point 3 times. We have the fake news our orange pedophile always wanted. His only success.

I work with older guys. Unix engineers. They’re a bit reticent to change. They’ve been at it for 20+ years on average so they sneer at this Agile stuff. And I don’t blame them. They are at least interested in automation so I’ve slowly been getting them involved there. Positive movement there so far just takes time and lots of conversations.
These dudes you describe sound like total imbeciles.

When you know a choice you made should have immediate or impending consequences, but the world carries on as if it’s business as usual. I was actually surprised when the opposite happened in Outer Worlds 2 recently. If you trigger a certain event and don’t go deal with it ASAP, it will happen without you and there are consequences.

Hardly any exclusives. Hardware is more and more meh with every release. We broke. Steam and GoG are so convenient I don’t even think about it. Nintendo will die a patent troll death.
- Comment on Last Epoch players turn on the action RPG for announcing a paid DLC class, tanking its Steam reviews: 'go play Path of Exile instead' 5 months ago:
Yeah, we’re in the same boat. I’m going through the backlog, but I have yet to truly find my comfort food even though those two games are excellent. Especially PoE2.
Regardless, agree on your points. The latter two franchises have shown that live-service can be done well. Though I still don’t quite get how Warframe pulls it off… I guess it’s that they never broke their model while Bungie… you know.
For Last Epoch, the campaign wasn’t even finished and then suddenly. Don’t write checks you can’t cash, I guess.

They should have just put a fork in it when it became very apparent early on it was too ambitious for the studio to handle. And that was long before it blew up in popularity. Now the game has been unprofitable for the past few expansions and their owners are coming to collect. Live service was a massive, greedy mistake as Bungie is also not learning with D2.

Sony seemed to want it to fail. Reviewers only got their hands on it shortly before release. Most didn’t like it. Marvel Rivals was dropping soon. It was doomed.

- Comment on sterile rot 1 year ago:
Just read an article that was basically saying we should consider all gut flora frenemies now. If you don’t eat enough fiber even the “good” kinds that help your body process it will go for your mucus lining, breach the cell barrier and enter the bloodstream. This causes inflammation and may also accelerate aging. Neat.
TLDR; eat fiber and don’t get old.
