- Comment on ‘Carrie’ TV Series From Mike Flanagan Officially Greenlit at Amazon 1 week ago:
Wow. That’s gonna suck. Usually I’m not one to be overly negative about this stuff and like to give the benefit of the doubt, but this story isn’t going to work as an episodic series.
Be prepared for the WB treatment.
- Comment on As ‘Twin Peaks’ Turns 35, the Mystery Is Still the Message for a World of Fans 1 week ago:
Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway were fun fever dreams that stuck with me for a long time. But I did enjoy them.
I’ll try it out I guess. I see it’s streaming on one of my services so no excuses now I guess.
- Comment on As ‘Twin Peaks’ Turns 35, the Mystery Is Still the Message for a World of Fans 1 week ago:
As weird as it may be, I’ve never seen an episode and I know absolutely nothing about this show. (Beyond that it was popular.) Would it hold up today if I watched it?
No real reason I didn’t watch the show. I just think when it was on network television I was at an age where I had a night life that didn’t revolve around a weekly serial show. And this didn’t seem like a show I could just jump into all willy nilly.
- Comment on he got what he deserved for driving like an idiot 1 week ago:
Truck driving too fast. Unsecured load. Unkept bush blocking the view of the exiting vehicle.
There a lot of blame to go around here, and not all of it belongs on the car driver.
- Comment on The Naked Gun | Official Teaser Trailer (2025 Movie) - Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson 2 weeks ago:
I’m a humourless grumpy old bastard that lost the lust for life a while ago. The trailer made me literally laugh out loud.
The only question, for me, is if they can keep the jokes coming for 90 minutes.
- Comment on The Naked Gun | Official Teaser Trailer (2025 Movie) - Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson 2 weeks ago:
They said that about Leslie Nielsen at the time too.
As a huge fan of Police Squad/Naked Gun(s) I think Liam Neeson is a perfect fit to honour a legend.
- Comment on Today's Survey. One point for everything that you have NEVER DONE 2 weeks ago:
I wasn’t sure if my parents owning an encyclopedia set qualified me for the point or not.
But then I remembered I owned the Microsoft Encarta encyclopedia CD. Did you own that?

I have a pet theory that sexual escalation is required every generation.
I look forward to the next generation reveal.

Honestly I just searched “top gun vhs tape worth”. I know absolutely nothing about vhs collecting.
Looks like the Pepsi promo one will be obvious. It’ll have a promo cover. I doubt you have it (sorry).
- Comment on Found these in a cabinet at work. Boss told me to make them disappear. 1 month ago:
If the top gun tape is the Pepsi promo it’s apparently worth $17500. If it’s not, it’s worth about $15.

I like it. Can’t wait to see it.
Not sure why the OP and (at least) one comment at time of writing didn’t like it, but it’s not that bad.
- Comment on Causes of Death in London (1623) 4 months ago:
Thanks. That’s helpful. And because I had to know:
Among unfathomable “Diseases and Casualties,” Planet (or plannet) was “likely a shorthand for “planet-struck [because] Many medical practitioners believed the planets influenced health and sanity.” The label applied to any sudden illness or death, such as a heart attack or aneurysm, according to “15 Historic Diseases that Competed with Bubonic Plague.”

My CD player had an FM transmitter that I tuned the car radio to.
- Comment on Subnautica 2 is coming in 2025 with four player co-op - here's the announcement trailer 5 months ago:
I know it says in the article that single player is a viable option, but I hope they don’t just increase the grind to justify the co-op.
Some of us don’t have friends.

Get. Out. 👉
(I admit. I chuckled. )

No. Trey and Matt have both said they’d never work with puppets again.
- Comment on Borderlands' theatrical run grinds to a halt with just $31 million worldwide, which is barely enough to cover the marketing costs 6 months ago:
Freddie Prince Jr & Mathew Lillard.
It’s not great, but it’s fun. Might be a tad dated if you watch it for the first time today, but I enjoyed it a lot when I saw it.
Of course, I was very stoned when I watched it.
- Comment on Would you recommend any of the Star Trek games? 7 months ago:
I liked ST Online. End game kinda sucks for me, but the episodic missions I found to be fun and enjoyable n line (mostly) with Trekness.
And it’s free. Download, do a Federation character, then switch it up with a Klingon/Romulon character.
It’s by no means a perfect game, but it’ll scratch an itch if you have it.
- Comment on Dune: Awakening – Exclusive Gameplay Reveal 7 months ago:
From my quick search and bad memory, it can be played solo, but it looks like combat requires a group to enable all the feats and abilities. Doesn’t look like they’re implementing a solo build that can do it without some serious grind. But I’m sure someone will game out a solution.
I will probably still take it for a quick spin if the reviews are good, but as an old dude who can’t dedicate time to MMOs to be good at them, I’d just rather all games be made to suit my particular tastes. /s

Shame it’s an MMO. Looks pretty though.

This is a decent and fun 4X game. Definitely worth the new price if you enjoy those games.
- Comment on The Running Man: Glen Powell to star in Edgar Wright's Stephen King adaptation 1 year ago:
I would love to see a book accurate movie.
But considering how the book ends (a plane crashing into a corpo tower) I doubt it.
It’s also just too dark for modern audiences. I’d love to be wrong though.
- Comment on PROOF 1 year ago:
As I understood it back in the old times…. The Flat Earth Society was a groups of logical rationalist who got together and for shits and giggles (as well as practicing rational debate) would pick an indefensible argument (eg. the earth is flat) and attempt to use rational arguments to support that indefensible claim.
Basically a rowdy drunk philosophers get together.
- Comment on nice for a holiday, i presume. 1 year ago:
From my understand (degree form YouTube), our understanding of what is needed for life is liquid water and free energy.
Which means earth like is most likely, but there are other alternatives. For example, the moon of Jupiter (Titan iirc) is ice covered but has liquid water beneath the surface, and the gravity of Jupiter should provide the free energy so that’s the Vegas favourite for finding extraterrestrial life within our solar system.
- Comment on The Sims movie in the works from Barbie’s Margot Robbie and director of Loki and The Last of Us Season 2 1 year ago:
WTF is a Sims movie going to be? It’s literally a virtual dollhouse, there is no unifying story to tell.
- Comment on I still don't get why people spend money... there's tons of it for free 1 year ago:
While I don’t disagree…. I’d just like to say, that if you pay enough for porn, you can get exactly what you’re looking for.
ROI isn’t worth it though.
