I’m sure with control over all government branches again they’ll have the ACA completely replaced in no time. For real this time.

I don’t think he even attempted to do math. Someone asked him about it and said what the current budget was, and he just rectally sourced 2 trillion. I assume he said that because it’s big enough to sound huge, but less than half of spending so people don’t panic that everything will be cut.
It’s meaningless bullshit until he actually says specifically what will be cut. Republicans have been claiming they can cut huge chunks of spending for years, but it never materializes. They only know how cut government income without paying for it.

Also look. If many Americans saw a tomato slice on their burger that was not perfectly round but instead very irregular with lots of divots and varying shades of red, orange, and yellow, they’d bring it to the counter and say they got a rotten tomato.
A local supermarket some years ago put heirloom tomatoes right next to regular tomatoes for basically the same price one summer. They stopped selling heirloom tomatoes after that year because hardly anyone bought them. I did. They were incredible.

I’ve never played a game where aim assist was done well enough for me. It’s either too little or too much. That is probably me though.

- Comment on Anons discuss PC vs console gaming 1 week ago:
Definitely agree. I used to be a KB/m only person, but have changed my opinion since using a controller for a while out of necessity. Some games are simply better with a controller.
Some are much worse. FPS will never translate well to controller for me. No idea how CoD people play on console. It feels like trying to throw a ball with someone else’s hand by manipulating their elbow.

How much parmesan did you grate over the brussel sprouts after they came out of the oven? Whatever amount it was, you didn’t do enough. Also if you forgot lemon zest, add some too.

A Canadian I used to know told me their family would have some cheaper items in the back seat that they’d declare and hide the more expensive stuff. Apparently it did work.
- Comment on Most of the trick-or-treaters have been skipping my house, and I finally figured out why 2 weeks ago:
It takes a lot of the magic out of it. I’m sure a bit of this is rose-colored glasses, but it was a really neat experience as a kid. The entire neighborhood was out in the streets, people got to know their neighbors, and you felt like you were part of something. These days, it feels spooky due to how empty it is besides cars.
- Comment on Most of the trick-or-treaters have been skipping my house, and I finally figured out why 3 weeks ago:
Yeah, in my area trunk or treat is the main reason for no trick or treaters these days. It’s a very urban area, so getting a lot of candy on foot would be easy, but walking around a parking lot is way quicker. It seems to be what most parents prefer also, so I think it’s here to stay.
- Comment on Kill it with fire! 3 weeks ago:
Never saw any before this year. I don’t get how they survive because they are the slowest, dumbest bugs I’ve ever seen. They just loudly splat onto the ground out of nowhere and flail about while I stomp them into a pulp.

I was going to say who cares if they’re selling a mount skin, but if on-the-go access to the auction house and mailbox isn’t normally accessible, this seems shitty.
- Comment on The Hunt For Gollum Won’t Be Two Films, But A Second LOTR Film Is Incoming, Philippa Boyens Confirms 4 weeks ago:
The first season was ok, and the second season was a little less than ok.
The show simultaneously feels very drawn out in some places and unrealistically quick in others, though usually the first. The different storylines seem completely unrelated or take too long to come together, and almost never in a way that’s satisfying.
There’s some good actors hamstrung by bad dialogue and uninteresting choices. For instance, one of the few intriguing choices they made in the first season is badass warrior Galadriel, and she spends almost the entire second season being aloof and ineffectual. To the show’s credit, season two does have a real climax near the end (looking at you House of the Dragon season two), but they built up zero tension leading up so you don’t really care much.
They also fell for the really big trap in adapting this age onto the screen: there’s too many elves, and they’re boring. They need foils (Gimli to Legolas), yet Durin Jr. and young Elrond aren’t around each other enough for it to do anything.
It’s nice to look at though.

- Comment on Why don't we have cool vending machines in the US? 5 weeks ago:
Your first sentence hit the nail on the head. Most Americans travel nearly exclusively in their car. Why would they get out of their car to use a vending machine when McDonald’s has a drive-thru? Or if they are willing to get out, why wouldn’t they just pick up fresher food from a restaurant? Moreover, mobile ordering has solved the issue of having to talk to people.
The US does have some vending machines like this, but pretty much exclusively in areas with very high foot traffic, like airports, train stations in major cities, etc.

The guy who did my driving test (US) generally did not tell me which way to turn at interactions or Ts and would get angry if I hadn’t guessed correctly. Apparently, it was very obvious to him where I should be going, and he shouldn’t have had to tell me.
At the time, my area held the test in the city with the worst designed roads. Experienced drivers (such as me today) can easily take wrong turns there. It’s like each stretch of road between intersections was independently designed by different people who never communicated.

Also, every race in the elder scrolls has had a space program. The khajiit space program was literally just them standing on each other’s shoulders to reach space.

- Comment on Why I Quit Driving and Started Taking the Bus (Standup) 1 month ago:
I feel like a conspiracy nutjob, but I can’t see another reason for it sometimes.
The last bus in my city is about 10-20 minutes before most theater shows end in our downtown. So I can take the bus to go see a show, but I can’t take one back unless I rudely leave during the final scene. Same deal for things like bar trivia. It’s like they want people to drive drunk.
And I can’t feasibly walk home because there’s two goddamn highways bisecting the city that make getting from downtown to my neighborhood take five times as long to walk as it should.

This would get almost immediately dismissed by any judge.
- Comment on Why do we put up with this crap? 3 months ago:
Frankly for short haul flights it makes sense. Would it be worth paying double or triple for a three hour flight just to get a full meal? Anyone who truly wants a taste of old time flying can get that with a first class ticket, both in terms of cost and quality.
