It certainly is more mask off this time around. They aren't trying to hide behind euphemistic slogans like "ethics in game journalism". Now they are just blatantly open about their anger that women and minorities are being represented in games and how that's a bad thing.
- Comment on YouTuber Jirard (a.k.a. The Completionist) has been accused of keeping and hoarding charity donations 1 year ago:
Well, Jirard admitted on the call in the video that he knew almost two years ago that the charity had never donated to anything. So strike those options off your list.
- Comment on YouTuber Jirard (a.k.a. The Completionist) has been accused of keeping and hoarding charity donations 1 year ago:
I don't see how there's any good explanation though for having a website quote thanking them for donating from someone who was fired for money issues 7 years prior.
- Comment on YouTuber Jirard (a.k.a. The Completionist) has been accused of keeping and hoarding charity donations 1 year ago:
Funny enough, I think the most blatant and consequential example of this not being able to be taken in good faith is the use of the quote from the UCSF person on the charity website. A person who was fired for money problems 7 years before the charity existed.
No matter what explanation they can give for why they have a quote from him thanking them for donating to UCSF, I see no way for the explanation to be good.

I really hope they're able to get better. That's a scary bad condition to have.

"playing one of the top 10 games of all time"
You get that dirty sentence away from Activision.
- Comment on Honest question: what was Hamas' long-game with respect to kidnapping Israelis? Did they think Israel would just negotiate rather than retaliate? 1 year ago:
That would make a lot of sense. Since Israel has blocked numerous other attacks in the past, Hamas likely expected a similar response, not a complete lack of one from their very apparent and out in the open preparations for the attack.
- Comment on JK Rowling prefers two years in jail over using correct pronouns 1 year ago:
She's the one that chose to make the fantasy world she made up the way it is. And she chose to make it one where a literal slave class of people enjoy being slaves and thinks slavery is great, so long as their slave masters treat them well. And the one person trying to free them is treated as a hyperbolic hippie type for even making such an attempt.
That is the made up world Rowling chose to make.
- Comment on JK Rowling prefers two years in jail over using correct pronouns 1 year ago:
Also, almost no one uses any form of neopronouns. They just use the classic three of she/he/they. Or a combination of them.
- Comment on Chinese video games are on the rise, but I wish they got more respect 1 year ago:
As I said, it only minorly avoids the fate of other gacha games by actually having effort put into its story and gameplay.
- Comment on Chinese video games are on the rise, but I wish they got more respect 1 year ago:
I mean, Genshin Impact is an outlier in games out of China. A lot of the games, even the big budget ones, from developers there are freemium or gacha trash (and Genshin only minorly avoids that by having a decent story and gameplay).
The first step would be to produce proper single player games that aren't reliant on a paid store model. There are some examples of that, but they're incredibly rare.

Why do you assume they're going to issue a patch?
- Comment on What are the connotations of Joe Rogan? 1 year ago:
Is that why Joe has been on an anti-trans kick for the past year alongside all the Republican fearmongering?
- Comment on What are the connotations of Joe Rogan? 1 year ago:
And where would one go for a "normal or accurate response" then? Because it's common public knowledge that Rogan is a right wing misinformation and pseudoscience pusher. Especially since the beginning of the pandemic.
- Comment on What are the connotations of Joe Rogan? 1 year ago:
Rogan doesn't consider them enemies, he considers them friends.
- Comment on What are the connotations of Joe Rogan? 1 year ago:
So go and listen to Matt Walsh then too? It's the same sort of right wing conspiracy crap pushing.
- Comment on What are the connotations of Joe Rogan? 1 year ago:
"He never confronts any of his guests. "
This is false as of the past year or two (post-Covid). Now whenever he has a scientist on, he'll argue and disagree with them, especially if the topic is Covid, vaccines, or climate change. He really likes the gish-gallop argument method where he spews a bunch of long since discredited claims on the topic.
- Comment on What are the connotations of Joe Rogan? 1 year ago:
He is "mainstream" in being known as a conspiracy crank. He claimed January 6th was a false flag:https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/joe-rogan-january-6-false-flag-b2385733.html
He just generally pushes right wing misinformation whenever he gets a chance: https://www.thedailybeast.com/joe-rogan-is-mainstreaming-right-wing-misinformation
- Comment on What are the connotations of Joe Rogan? 1 year ago:
Oh, he got way more unhinged during and since Covid. That's when his conspiracy craziness took off for the stratosphere.
- Comment on What are the connotations of Joe Rogan? 1 year ago:
Because it's left-wing and Rogan mainly appeals to far right conspiracy cranks?
- Comment on What are the connotations of Joe Rogan? 1 year ago:
A lot of the comments above are super creepy in how neutral they are on Rogan, who is well known to be a far right conspiracy crank who mostly platforms other cranks and super bigoted people and credulously spreads their claims as accurate.
He very rarely has actual decent people on and, frequently when he does so, tries to argue with them that they're wrong. Especially if they're scientists.

Wanting to defend the democratic freedom of a country being invaded by a militaristic dictatorship is the same as Hitler?
I think you have things perfectly backwards, but I suppose that's standard for dictator defending tankie trash.

He wanted to defend against Russian dictatorial invasion. It's sad he died, but he was brave to actually take action against Russia.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
Makes me wonder if Russia is trying to purposefully target, when they can, non-Ukrainian soldiers coming from elsewhere in the world.
- Comment on Todd Howard asked on-air why Bethesda didn't optimise Starfield for PC: 'We did [...] you may need to upgrade your PC' 1 year ago:
Why would he? Todd hates everyone who plays his games and cares only about separating money from pockets. Fallout 76 made that quite clear to everyone.
