  It’s refreshing to have someone point out things instead of just downboating you.

  This is essentially, why I try to do it. I think there would be a lot less miscommunication, and overall better discussion athmosphere, if people just stopped to say, “hey, you sound like [this], maybe you did not mean it”, instead of just downvoting - or worse, starting to hurl insults around. Nobody learns a thing, if there is no good feedback given. I know this sometimes just pisses people off, but I think it is still worth to try. Sometimes I get discussions like this one, afterall!

  And I think I understand, what you mean with the difficulty, of conveying an unordinary life. I like to keep things more private here, but every time I explain the downward spiral of unfortunate things, and new and new chronic illnesses, my life has been so far, to someone, it sounds like a bad sitcom…

  Yeah, no, I did not mean to imply you did not do all that, that is a communication failure on my part. Just pointing out, that your wording about not bragging, made your message read as something else, than what you likely meant. Unintentionally failing at communication is a big issue online, and I often try to point out, where the miscommunication happened, so that can be avoided in the future. That does not save me too, from failing from time to time, though.

  This is why I have one! It is incredibly beautiful, with its soft orange glow, when lit up. The winter is long and dark here, and I need all sorts of beautiful lights to look at.

  The bigger, twisted to a circle -ones are tortelloni, the small ones (that can be found dried) are tortellini. There is also ravioli of course, which are the pocket sort, usually biggish. All of them are definitely somewhere between pasta and dumplings. Or more like, pasta dumplings.

  And having some web space is not that expensive either. I am not even close to using the cheapest options, but it costs me about 80€/year to run the space I use for my small hobby forum (I will not doxx myself), and some other things. Depending on what your income, and other hobbies are, that is peanuts.

  And good tips for the oat milks and cheese! I usually just buy one cheap store brand, that is made here in Finland, since I like the really bland taste of it, lol. The least chemically tasting I have found! I also have one vegan cheese I like, but it too, is sold only locally…

  Could be - but that would also mean taking milk away from the calves for a while. Not sure how much milk a cow would be able to continue to give and what the quality would be after the calf has had enough to outgrow infancy.

  This is doable, especially with the cows, that have been bred to produce milk. You do not even need to separate the mom and calf, for more than a moment, to milk, so we do know it is possible. You just get less milk, than by taking the calf away, so it is not profitable in comparison. There are other problems though, like they should be able to feed mostly by pasture grazing, which takes a lot of land, and if you do not kill some of the cows and bulls for food, you will have way too many… etc.

  And with eggs - yes. The EU standards for “bio” eggs are already better (very far from perfect though), so it might be possible to do profitably even. A big ethical problem with factory farming chickens right now, though, is the process of mass producing the egg-laying chickens themselves. Hens are kept, but the male chicks might be just thrown into a shredder. Even if all of them were raised, a lot of the cocks would have to be killed, since there would be carnage otherwise, as you cannot keep them together, and you have to have multiple hens more than cocks in a flock. This also applies if you keep chickens in your backyard, so there are always excess cocks being given away, that nobody wants, and many end up as food.

  That ethical problem could be solved (well, not if you are “fully” vegan, and view even keeping pets and livestock, unacceptable), by doing good small-scale production. Factory farming producing the inhuman conditions, is needed to make the operations economically sustainable, in the way it is build into capitalist systems. But if you would keep the cows well, milk products could be made quite ethically… Now of course the costs needed to do that would make milk extremely expensive, and small-scale could not replace the massive demand, so people would have to consume way less anyway.

  I sort of agree with this (with the exception of a teacher bullying someone), but I would not call a kid idiot, for that. Even a lot of adults cannot do that sort of self-reflection, it is unreasonable to expect it from an immature child. That is one reason, why teachers bear such huge responsibility, as to a kid even a minor thing can be world-shattering. They do not yet have the life experience, to know or understand better, and that is not them being idiots, but being children.
  Also, that was not really what the original comment even said. It sounds very reasonable, to feel like giving up, after a bad experience like that. But they make no claims, that it had ruined their whole education.

  (About the USA’s school system or cultural things around that, I cannot comment, since as someone from the other side of the ocean, I have no fucking clue how it really is.)
