The devil won because he led him down the path of pride and claimed his soul in the end.

I think it’s fun and it’s led me down a couple of wikiholes about the changes in the alphabet over the years and I like learning things.

I don’t think you even need to go that into it to be right. I stopped drinking coffee and started with tea because I drank so much at work the coffee was fucking with my stomach. I’ve since gotten way into it and have a huge variety of teas I like but any generic black or white tea is just better in every way than even the best coffee, and I used to consider myself a big coffee connoisseur.

I know this thread is for unpopular opinions, but JFC.

Upvoted not because it’s unpopular, but because I agree. I used to be very Linux curious, but joining Lenny has made me realize I’d rather put up with a kind-of-shitty OS that I never have to think about than dedicate my life to maintaining a good OS.

Lol, I did the exact same thing thing. I watched like half a dozen shitty Scandi shows before I realized what I was doing and started being more picky.

My problem with pineapple, or any other divisive topping, isn’t the topping itself, it’s getting it in a group environment.
For example: Someone is getting six pizzas for twelve people (don’t get hung up on the numbers, just round ones for illustrative purposes), 1/2 pizza per person. But someone says “I want Hawaiian,” and someone else says “I want anchovies.” Now two people have a whole pizza to themselves, that they won’t finish, leaving ten people to share three pizzas, less than 1/3 pizza per person. And just because you like Hawaiian, doesn’t mean you only like Hawaiian, so when it comes maybe you get a couple slices of Hawaiian and one slice of something else, further reducing the supply of mass appeal pizzas for everyone else. Every time this happens the “normal” pizzas are gone before everyone has their fill and 1/2-3/4 of the specialty pizzas goes to waste.
I’ve got a weird pizza I love too, but I don’t request it in a group seeing because I’m not an asshole (at least not in this way). Your taste isn’t wrong, I don’t think there is any such thing, but if you request it in a group setting (or your the one making the order and you get it for yourself) you’re an asshole. And if you get all smug about it being “valid” and “slamming” if anyone dares to complain, you’re a double asshole.

Everything is 95% shit, but it does seem like some people get turned on to a couple animes they like and don’t understand that the same good/shit ratio that applies to everything else also applies to anime. I think at least some of these people make “liking anime” part of their personality before they figure this out and then become defensive, like they’re being personally attached, when it’s pointed out.
- Comment on Why in America is .08 the legal limit for drunk driving? How come it's not an even 0.10? Who decided at what level being drunk starts? Then 4 beers of 12oz's is 0.08 why is it that small? 5 weeks ago:
It was .10 pretty much everywhere when I was a kid, .08 became a thing little by little during the 90s, I think. MADD, mothers against drunk driving, is the reason behind this and many of the things surrounding drunk driving some find too restrictive or punitive. They were a very effective lobbying group.

If this is a whole genome thing, and not just looking at a small group of alleles, it is incredibly unlikely that two of the grandchildren would have no contribution from the white grandparent. It’s so unlikely that I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that it’s unlikely to have ever happened throughout all of human history.

Russia has been one big slow societal collapse since forever. In The Big Book of Russian History every chapter starts with “and then somehow things got even worse.”

Shit, he’s 80? I guess I haven’t seen him in a while. Back when the cable stations with educational names actually had educational programming, and not just reality trash, he was pretty dope.

It’s not that strong, vibration and a little force in the other direction that is easily overcome, especially when you’re turning hard to move quickly.
- Comment on WTF is this??? 3 months ago:
You have to oversignal in modern BMWs or the wheel vibrates and tries to correct the other direction. Forced merges, lane splitting, any deviation from straight down the middle even when it’s obvious that you have to do that thing, the car bitches at you if you don’t signal.

Yeah, I have zero in my house now. I have over 1k on my ereader, in my pocket, and on my tablet. Even when I read physical books I never had this many, every time I got to a couple hundred I’d take them to Goodwill for others to enjoy. My reading list is so long, it’s not like I’m likely to reread anything. Every book I reread is one other book I won’t get to read before I die.
I see bookshelves like this these days it’s like someone with a lot of vinyl. They’re either old (old to me and I’m almost 50), or just into an old format for some reason. Nothing wrong with that, it just doesn’t mean the same thing it used to.
- Comment on How is Alexander the Great so great he gets that name, but not so great that just “Alexander”doesn’t disambiguate him? 3 months ago:
In context people often do drop the “the great” and just say Alexander.
