It is impossible to have better performance than the Steam Machine, because the Steam Machine doesn’t even exist yet !

That’s a shame. I was thinking of buying the KCD games soon, now I won’t.
- Comment on The Case Against Gameplay Loops 6 days ago:
I get the feeling, but from a completely different perspective : I want infinite games, at least most of the time.
I’m usually not looking for a good mechanic or two to repeat over and over again. Either a game has to be a focused story that carries me through, or (and that’s what I prefer) : a sandbox.
A world I can inhabit, where I can combine mechanics, set my own goals, exist within… The best game for this is of course Minecraft, but others do come close for me :
- Project Zomboid
- Zelda BoTW and ToTk
- No Man’s Sky
- The Sims 3
So when a game focuses on developing one mechanic as far as possible… That’s nice, I might play a few hours, but I’m very unlikely to finish the game.

AFAIK, historical documents show the Japanese government were ready to surrender, if they had been sure the monarchy would be preserved.
The bomb could have been replaced with properly worded surrender terms.
- Comment on Does the engine a game uses factor into your decision to buy it or not? 1 week ago:
Yes, sort of. I absolutely hate the visual artifacts from TAA and from upscaling, which are both much more commonly used in UE5 games.
I’m also much more likely to try custom-engine games, just because I think people making their own engines is pretty cool ! I have only implemented very basic stuff myself, but it was very interesting to do !

Glad to report my college has ethics as a required class in the CS curriculum indeed ! Though I think the class is sub-par, but it’s brand new for this year, so it should improve progressively…

It works pretty well on Linux for me, but I’m really waiting for the Steam Controller because that trackpad is just kinda trash compared to what Valve makes x) also I need more back buttons, the DualSense Edge has only two and the placement isn’t great

Making the bait more appealing doesn’t make this any less of a trap than Xbox game pass.
Say no to subscriptions !

If I can’t buy the games on PC I’m not gonna buy them at all. The PS5’s controller is cool I guess, except the only game using it correctly are Astro’s Playroom and Astro Bot… (which gives me flashbacks to Nintendo Land all over again)

Crystals do fix negative energy in a very simple way ! Feeling negative ? Just look at a crystal, crystals are pretty. Now you feel less negative, ta-dah !
I have multiple salt lamps for this reason. The magic of being a very pretty glowing crystal works wonders on me when I feel down x)

- Comment on Fewer People Playing Fortnite Is Just One of Epic's Many Problems, Analysts Say 3 weeks ago:
I checked out of Fortnite when the brand partnerships started. I really liked the first few seasons though…
It felt like the game had a strong identity that was challenging PUBG’s nonsense. No complicated inventory, just 5 slots. 1 or 2 weapons per category with very well defined playstyles, no incomprehensibly complicated weapon mod system on top. Building is very cool and raises the skill ceiling so high too !
And the style was cartoony and silly : you don’t get cars, you get shopping carts ! Characters have no voices, the “laugh” is a donkey sound !
But when the brand deals started coming, they started wilfully throwing away their identity to replace it with recognizable IP. So I quit.

Yes ! They will unironically send you messages full of “it’s not X, it’s Y” and use lists everywhere when it’s not appropriate at all 😅 It’s amazing to me that they think they are still writing in a perfectly normal way
- Comment on We Spoke To Game Devs And All Of Them Hate DLSS 5: 'What The F***, Nvidia?' 4 weeks ago:
Yes, but MMOs spend that time on the 1% of players that bring in over 50% of the revenue. Not on a feature everybody hates, and that doesn’t make money, just because NVIDIA says so.
- Comment on We Spoke To Game Devs And All Of Them Hate DLSS 5: 'What The F***, Nvidia?' 4 weeks ago:
I think the NVIDIA people just saw that it’s «more realistic» and that was good enough for them. And, to be fair, it is.
But they are so drunk on AI that they missed the inconsistencies, the fake imaginary lights, the impossibility of controlling the result, the random addition of makeup, the fact it fucks up color balance and contrast…
And the COST !? Two 5090s when most people couldn’t even afford one !? Even if the results were perfect, just forget about it ! No sane developer will spend any money on a feature less than 1% of their players will even experience, let alone enjoy.

As much as this sucks, it exists because a (stupid) person put (misguided) effort into it, and there was still something valuable in that.

In Brookhaven I usually break into people’s houses by exploiting the sleeping bag and the ladder.
I have a “cardboard box” outfit made especially for that purpose so that I can hide and look like a prop.
People get exceedingly mad when you rob their house’s money safebox, even though that doesn’t actually take any money from them in-game at all, and I think that’s hilarious.
- Comment on Xbox Project Helix may cost $1,200 with massive performance upgrades 1 month ago:
I don’t understand why people still buy consoles. There’s used to be so many reasons to do so, that are all evaporating away…
- Convenience, plug and play…
- Much cheaper hardware
- Games optimised for that hardware
- Unique features for each generation
- Cool exclusive games
- Physical, resellable games Everything is evaporating away, I don’t think there is a point anymore.
