- Comment on Why are we so afraid of cockroaches? 17 hours ago:
The fast movement and lack of sight is what’s scary about them, snakes tarantulas will move away from you and do it slowly, cockroach will run in any direction at full speed when startled unless you explicitly startle them with large thud near them, otherwise they might dash full speed towards you
Also social upbringing making them out to be some great threat and fact we’re way more common to see them than the other actually dangerous creatures
- Comment on What do you think happens if I stop using AI for a month? 2 days ago:
If you’ve been using AI for a while now you’ll have grown to depend on their convenience, effectiveness aside, the time saved on simple tasks makes them very appealing to just rely on
Once you stop using them you’ll notice how much time and effort goes into those simple tasks, even just writing a post and finding information on a subject takes minutes, you’ll notice it immediately and you’ll get withdrawal because of the friction in manual work
So keep in mind that you’re doing this to regain back agency over your life be it in information you gather or work you create and fight temptation to pick the easy way that chains you with dependency
- Comment on I'm gonna ask the simplest complex question ever. What is happiness, to you? 5 days ago:
Happiness to me is having a meaning to my life, i couldn’t find a point to living for myself that was logical so i just gave up living for it and decided the only reason to live is to be morally good
So now happiness is being a good person, every now and then i’d get unexplainably sad or angry if i’m too happy for self interest reasons because life lost meaning for a moment

You’ll get withdrawal symptoms probably so fight the temptation to use it!

Yes eventually, the only way it won’t be is if it’s physically impossible to replicate a human brain, i don’t believe that’a the case
Fuck AI nonetheless, it needs regulation not hope

Not really, i’ve know many people like this who were bottom of their class and had edge over me in chess, fun games like it or random specific trivia, they don’t do it to feel intellectually superior they do it because it’s more enjoyable to them than studying
They’re not dumb they’re just not trying altogether, and when i talk with them about the topics they enjoy they actually show great understanding on them, it’s all just people with interests
If they were trying, say in a debate and they’re deliberately refusing to follow simple proofs they themselves use, yeah then they’re dumb, but i’ve never come across someone like that that still managed to be good at something, it’s a core part of learning as a process
Sure there are people with useful interests and ones with useless ones, but i refuse to call the useful ones smart and useless ones dumb, it’s demeaning to those people’s capabilities, i don’t hold anyone to this way of thinking it’s just mine

True, and it actually makes up the majority of the skill as well, i just don’t like to look at people as gifted or lucky because it’s unfair, it’s kind of sad hahaha
I get easily conquered by defeatism if it’s done through pure logic and there’s no doubt about luck being a huge factor in skill! And in life in general, So i just kind of look away and continue grinding what i enjoy, because it’s the only thing you can do to enjoy competitive activities

Both sides are just people with interests, i never understood the smart/dumb distinctions, there’s just interests, dedication and morals
- Comment on Does it seem like US presidents just throw a dart on a spinning globe and say he lets start fucking with this or that country? Used to be arbitrary, now it seems the GOV no longer lie just do. 1 week ago:
It’s always ulterior there’s no doubt about it, the first paragraph is as media biased as you can get on these matters so to anyone reading don’t buy into these reasons, the US doesn’t have anything to prevent or respond to, they only enforce and instigate

AI didn’t steal jobs or creative work of most normal IRL people, so same as with what happened to artist years ago, they had to navigate the crisis without them, the same is happening to programmers now, people IRL are not exposed on a personal level to as much of the dark side of AI business, only environmental and educational arguments land with them, and they’re not as effective when it gives them access to seemingly free art, info and computer skills they never had
This is how i understood them personally, they don’t see it as their war, just as a war, hopefully with free subsidized system going away they’ll take a harder stance like the rest of us

This is normal don’t be ashamed, social media, chaos of this decade and phones have destroyed our attention span, keeping focused on an activity is so difficult for most of this generation especially if it’s as uneventful as reading is
My best advice is to try Manga, the visuals might keep you interested enough to hook you on the activity of reading, then you can try more text heavy books as you go, you have to be addicted to it to fight addiction of phones
You can also try Audiobooks but i personally find myself zoning out on them so many times, it’s like i’m consuming books without actually taking in it’s content
- Comment on Has anyone else noticed the strong pro CCP and anti-west vibes here? 1 week ago:
No i’m still learning, my idea has always been that soviets foreign intervention was to support socialism and communism and to fight capitalism, that was their end goal in offering support, and my idea on russia is that their foreign intervention is to combat western influence and push for russian dependency which just means a change in management
It’s hard for me to praise them knowing they’re just as likely to exploit for sake of nationalism as the US is, but i have no doubt i’m Anti-US even if i’m not pro-russia, i don’t take sides based on who’s benefited even if it’s other africans more so i try to have a full picture of the political scene, that’s where i stand
If you have any documentaries or books i can read on russia’a support for independence against france i’d love to go through them!

I’m also African. I used to be fairly biased towards west, as in letting them get away with foreign intervention with just minor scrutiny while being strongly against china russia and islam for their downfalls(misogyny, oppression ect). up until the whole files release and that took me down a rabbit hole of learning about reality of 9/11 the magnitude of bias in mainstream media and finally reading about history of socialism and eventually communism starting from Che Guevara
That alone already made me have severe criticism of US as is but what sent me over the edge is how complacent americans are, if these things happened in any other country the entire economy would be shut down by the people, but they’re just trying to avoid talking or bringing up this subject, or saying it’s out of their power, then the next moment starting a topic about their latest high end keyboard and travel plans, then switching to the difficulties of living end to end
I do my best to try and be kind i swear i do, but things like this actually drive me insane not cause they happen but because of how often it does. I kid you not i’m completely sold that if anyone will stop the west’s imperialism and foreign intervention it’s going to be another African American or LGBTQ or some minority as usual, because only suffering can bring about change and i do not see suffering from the lifestyles of the americans i talk with, it’s always only on paper
The way i see it is they feel unmotivated to reign their government in due to their lifestyle no longer being at the top of charts or better than europe? How does that fix anything in their situation though, and what do i say living off only 2 meals a day to save money? The only thing that got majority of west sphere to hate genocidal regime wasn’t their tax money being spent on it but the raising of gas price? Please someone make me central again i’m so sad now
No i’m not paid off i’m just waiting for the American people to pull their weight in all of this or not silencing and smearing people that are trying to pull in their behalf before i can feel the brotherhood bond with them as i do with soviets(not current russia) and china fighting back against RAM cartel and fossil fuels, please
