- Comment on Why don't communities build massive gardens for food? That way it would undercut the price of big retail stores. 1 day ago:
This, yes, if you want to feed the whole town from inside production, the try isn’t reasonable. I have heared London has a company doing soilless agriculture inspired by canabis factories… I am not sure how it went.
Yet if you take it at an individual level, being part of a 100m2 community (each have their own lot) can be interesting, if well organized.

Even if those cultivating them still need to buy some other food, doesn’t it conribute to reduce their food cost?
Here many of them produce more than their family can eat, but face the problem that each type of vegetable tend to arrive at maturity at the same time. The usual trick they use is to be a community, sharing and receiving according to the quantity produced. I had friends into such, and they were eating some of their (or their communities’) production daily ; off course still buying non-vegetable food but it was not just a leisure.

Was it in the USA? Proving that in Europe would be very fun, and actually I would really like to read the study itself!
- Comment on Why do we need legal genders at all? 3 days ago:
The blood group is very important too, for medical issues, but I don’t think it is common to make it a legal marker (such as on passport).
Also, some people are born not matching exactly the classical genders, and labeling them legaly male or female can be misleading for medical things…
- Comment on If the legalization of drugs reduces crime, why can't the same be said about the legalization of guns? 6 days ago:
The legalization of drugs usually come with a program that sets drug addiction as an health problem, and does not make it an ordinary good.
Also, I am not sure if the gun legalization would increase crime by itself. The laws made to allow the use of guns probably do more harm. Here (in France), guns are restricted but allowed in some conditions, and they aren’t much linked to crime. Also, what ever crime is punished far more if the offender had a weapon, which makes most criminals avoid weapons when they are not strictly needed…

Invest on a bus card, and commute. The few times you really need a car, rent it. And if the public transport aren’t enough pressure politics and your co-citizen to get more public transport.

if you are a bit above 400 pounds you may want to push a bit to reach 480. If you are 200kg, adding 280kg for the joke would seem to hard… and so the cycle would not start.

It depends on your side:
if you vote for the right, then you are likely to win with both sides, so you don’t really need to vote.
if you are for the left, you absolutely need to vote for the left AND to do not let them in peace once elected, because without being pushed and forced to do a left politic, they are likely to do a right one.
- Comment on Christa Pike at 18 years old when she was sentenced to death. She is now 50 and they are supposed to kill her this week 2 weeks ago:
You are right that nothing proves that droping penal death reduces the crimes. There could be no link between both, it could be a pure coincidence happening in the hundred countries droping it.
Also, and despite a constant populist pressure in each of this countries, very few have reintroduced it (and most of them fastly droped it back again).
Of course, some may have droped it out of diplomatic pressure more than for their population… but still, it brings benefices. Sorry, I mean the coincidental effect on crimes is observed ; and so at the very least droping penal death does not rise the numbers nor severity of crimes.
- Comment on Christa Pike at 18 years old when she was sentenced to death. She is now 50 and they are supposed to kill her this week 2 weeks ago:
Countries who droped penal death have seen the number of terrible crimes reducing. I don’t think there is a single example where their number have grown. There are hypothesis to explain it.
Also, the only way to prevent a large abuse of penal death is to keep convicted offenders in jail for a long time before their execution ; which negate the economical argument. It was not acceptable on a moral point of view, but it is not even cheaper.
Something costy and not efficient should be replaced by something cheaper and more efficient. Especially when the second is better on a moral point of view.

War on drugs do not aim at reducing drug trasfic nor drug use. We all know it has never been effective anywhere for any drug.
We also know that treating drug as a medical problem is the best way to reduce both use and traffic.
War on drugs are just a way to force dealers to become more professional, and avoid “freelance” ones. War on drugs are a pure win for drugs, from their start.

It is not an ambiguity, it is a remaining from a popular way to count. Just as you may count per hundreds and 4 100 sounds like 400, and means it. But you may also count things by dozen (most likely for eggs…).
Yet you may use “octante” (beligum) or “huitante” (swiss) instead of “quatre-vingt”.
- Comment on Keep them secret 5 weeks ago:
You may trust a part of them without trusting them all.
Also, you may want to hide things to those you trust ; not only for your comfort, but sometimes to do not hurt them in a way that would be too hard for them at a random time.
And finally, you may want to hide some things from your boss and coworkers. They are close to you in your life, but not needingly your close friends.

So you should get vaccinated and take some parcetamol while sick (but not too much)… and maybe, if there is an other life, who knows, you may be autistic in next life!
If you want high wages in this life, the easiest is to be born in a rich family, and that would make you happy. Else, you may still try to become a philosopher ; it won’t make you rich, but it could be good for your mind…
