The local Aboriginals to me have oral stories about the most recent ice age.

With my high-school tectonic plate knowledge, they were probably more ocean, or much wider and flatter.

I’m actually pretty sure the west coast wouldn’t exist, didn’t the Rockies get formed by the pacific plate hitting the North American plate while pangea was unforming?

Honestly, fair.
My only issue with it is the conflicting answers you get with apt vs apt-get vs whatever the 3rd option is, and the 6 different valid commands for upgrading your system, that also have conflicting answers on which is ‘correct’.
That, and yay -Sy is way more fun to type, and shorter.

Its best not to engage with @SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world if their comments upset you, they are about the most prolific shitposter on the fediverse.
Unless your goal is to entertain them, then please, carry on, because you are doing a great job.

I haven’t seen a limited SMS plan in around a decade here in Canada, so this post is wild to me.

Erm, there are a few of them that do the box art/moviedb style thing, they just dont host the game files.
Will edit with links in a bit.

I mean, the post goes from question to partial explanation of the answer, with no following clarifying question. This isn’t really how people type when they are sharing the limit of their knowledge and asking for it to be expanded upon.
The lack of engagement in the comments by OP in this post also doesn’t help.
- Comment on ESA bafflingly declares private Minecraft servers 'illegal' 1 month ago:
Yes, you can still turn off validation, at least on Java edition - you can even host your own validation server via drasl and similar, but that requires the server to have config options set to use your custom auth (and probably skin) server, and your client to have the libauthinjector mod installed.
Works great as an alternative to whitelisting IP’s to play with friends, and means you can’t have your Minecraft account deleted because you swore on your privately hosted server and a friend hit the report button.
- Comment on Day 708 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing 1 month ago:
So fun fact about this game: button mashing is *encouraged*. You get 1exp per *hit*, so you end up underleveled if you do a strong build,,and overleveled if you purposefully keep your main attack at 1 damage.
Its also a great way of balancing a group setting, since the parties overall level will be lower at bosses, making the fight harder than if you played the game solo.

The devs covered that, they were not aware of any dogwhistles with the symbols they used during development, and once they were made aware of said dogwhistles, they spent the time to remove them from the game as thoroughly as possible

So, a lot of packing peanuts are made of cornstarch now - you can melt them with water.
If you ever get a box that claims eco friendly, but is full of packing peanuts, try putting a few in water and squishing them before getting angry!
If they don’t fall apart, get even angier.

Unfortunately the chart wouldn’t be accurate. My hands vs, say, a French pastry chef are 2 very different numbers.
This is not anecdotal either, when I was in college the French pastry teacher loved pulling sheet pans full of bread out of the bread oven (which sits at 550F) and hand it to students barehanded.
If you asked him if his hands had any feeling in them, the answer was consistently ‘ask my wife!’

I am fully aware of that, but i have free PCs, and no money for buying brand new dedicated equipment, so its going in a VM or two.

At $0.50/kwh, I probably wouldn’t bother charging my car, because gas would be cheaper!
And yeah, I am not surprised how fast it adds up, though charging my Escape PHEV is still visibly my biggest power cost, at least when it isn’t -10C for weeks on end (my pellet stove doesn’t like staying lit above -15C, not that pellets are any cheaper than space heaters…).
- Comment on "Upgrading" my Home Server setup 3 months ago:
Actually, this (and a few other comments) made me double check my rates, and wow, I don’t think I would ever want to live somewhere with a $0.50/kwh rate - mine is between $0.12 and $0.14 depending on if I am over the 133 kWh threshold or not.
- Comment on "Upgrading" my Home Server setup 3 months ago:
I am trying to decide how to balance services, but running all 3 slightly less old computers will be less costly than the 2 very old computers I am currently running, due to them being on newer processor architecture.
I was definitely planning to have at least 2 running 24/7 though, specifically for having 2 pihole instances running, as well as having headscale and my tailscale exit node on separate devices (so that devices like my phone are still covered by the pihole).

That is a fair point on jellyfin needing the best CPU.
Was mostly asking about doing a swarm/cluster because i am unsure if there is a benefit, but i have the hardware, so if there is a benefit i wouldn’t mind setting it up.
On that note, what is recommended for a NAS OS?
