- Comment on Why is Valve being sued for almost $900 million, but Epic Games wasn't sued when they bought Rocket League and Fall Guys to remove them from steam? 5 days ago:
For brick and mortar, which has significantly more costs to make up than digital. Which is the entire point of this suit. And steam’s policy requires that no game can be regularly priced cheaper than on their platform - artificially raising prices across the board.
It’s bizarre seeing everyone here defend steam here just because they don’t like who’s saying it.

- Comment on Meta progression in roguelites was fun for a while, but it's starting to feel unrewarding 5 days ago:
I don’t like the ones that are meant to be replayed over and over to progress at all.
I like the ones that are a whole new experience each time. I’m not even sure if these are truly rogue likes, but they get lumped into them

- Comment on Would the United States actually risk a Tiananmen Square incident? 1 week ago:
Certainly complete disarmament of ICE. Their job is investigation misdemeanors. There’s fuck all reason for them to be armed at all.
You don’t need a gun to investigate paperwork issues.

We’d already be in ww3. It’s an indicator, not a mechanism that does anything on its own.

- Comment on The college-to-office path is dead: CEO of the world’s biggest recruiter says Gen Z grads need to consider trade and hospitality jobs that don’t even require degrees 4 weeks ago:
We’ve seen robots struggling to handle picking up boxes for like a decade now. They’re still struggling with that. Tight spaced delicate movements isn’t in the near future, yet.
Transportation is going to be the first industry majorly replaced by automation, not the trades.

The one near me isn’t set up like a line of stools at a bar. It’s a ton of tables all over the place with some arcade/bar games strewn around. In a college area so fills up pretty easily at night
- Comment on Ubisoft Closes Canadian Studio After It Unionizes 4 weeks ago:
Everyone wants to work in games. Few want to work on accounting software and client messaging organization programs. Who do you think gets paid more despite doing basically the same thing?
- Comment on Ubisoft Closes Canadian Studio After It Unionizes 4 weeks ago:
highly paid developers
You’re not familiar with the games industry are you?
Their wages are significantly lower than related software fields of similar skill sets.

For short periods, like a few days, you can get a small boost in productivity. But if it goes on too long, you actually see a decrease in productivity overall.
And most companies aren’t paying for this, as lobbyists managed to get “computer workers” onto the list of allowed overtime exempt employees.

- Comment on Indie Game Awards Disqualifies Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Due To Gen AI Usage 1 month ago:
I’m not avoiding the spirit at all. I’m pointing out the ridiculousness of the no-AI-at-all brigrade slapping the AI label on a game that “uses AI during it’s development even if it’s not in the end product”, because it would absolutely count this exact scenario.
- Comment on Indie Game Awards Disqualifies Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Due To Gen AI Usage 1 month ago:
Bad analogy. Communication is part of team development. If you’re pitching ideas, redefining requirements or requesting additional assets, you’re developing the game…

If you’re sending emails related to the development of the game you’re developing to other people developing that same game, you’re NOT developing the game? What kind of bullshit mental gymnastics is this?

Yeah I dunno if a year is enough to connect this singular dot.
1869 is also the year the US intercontinental resolution was completed, which would seem to be a much bigger connection to an element allowing travel than the guy who made the periodic table.

Yeah, do you use any Microsoft products at all (like 98% of corporate software development does)? Everything from teams to word to visual studio has copilot sitting there. It would just take one employee asking it a question to render a no-AI pledge a lie.
