- Comment on Why is so difficult to organize a strike 2 days ago:
but to strike fear into the heart of the capitalist, you must provide a credible threat that you can keep on striking indefinitely, and that requires a lot of work and a lot of organization
Or, threathen to make them actively lose money. For example, where I live it is legal for bus drivers to strike.
But they can’t strike by continuing their route and not charging for the ride. They explicitly made that illegal, making a general public transport strike not only less effective but it also turns the public against them because they are inconvenienced. All intended, ofcourse. Deny the workers an effective method of striking while still being able to say that they are “allowed” to strike.

I only eat the green ones. It’d quite the hassle to sort them but I just really don’t like the red and blue ones.

The restaurant I work at prepares their pasta this way. Slightly undercook it, coat it in sunflower oil and put it in a gastro tray. Then when you need it, take out a portion and finish cooking it in the sauce.
Would cooking the pasta fresh be better? Maybe, but we are able to crank out so many pastas in a very small kitchen that it’s most likely worth the tradeoff.

Exactly! But you don’t have to use olive oil. I put in a few drops of sunflower oil cause it cheap where I live while good olive oil is expensive af

Exactly. And, combined with the shared amount of texts/minutes (which IIRC for me was something like 100), actually calling people and wanting to text your friends you’d run out of texts very quick. WhatsApp was a godsend at the time.

I remember starting to use it because texting was pretty expensive and limited at the time. Whatsapp was free (group) texting when on WiFi and still cheaper when on cellular. If texting wasn’t so expensive at the time I really don’t think whatsapp would’ve caught on like it did. Now people are just used to it so that’s probably why it’s still big

It’s very big in western Europe. Here in the Netherlands everybody is on WhatsApp pretty much since it’s creation

Went to a show last week and a guy in a button up and corduroy pants started talking to me. He was new but I embraced him as much as a fellow punker as I would someone with torn up jeans, dyed hair and studs. In the end you should be able to wear what you feel comfortable in, whether it be a suit or a crust punk fit
- Comment on Punkrock 4 weeks ago:
It’s ironic that there are so many prerequisites and certificates necessary to be a fan of punk
I really think that that’s mostly just a loud minority being asshats. In my local scene the focus is more on being and expressing yourself in a way you like. Sure the music might be a bit more extreme than popular punk bands but in the end we all stand for the same common goals of equality and self expression, and excluding people for “not being punk enough” is a shit take and should die out real quick

As someone with their own bag of mental health issues, including anxiety, I really can’t stress enough that you should seek a human health professional. They will help you much more than a robot ever could.
The other uses, eh whatever, even tho I hate ai as much as most people in this thread. But don’t use it as a replacement for actual mental help
- Comment on Why exactly are nursing aids paid so poorly? 4 weeks ago:
I think you misunderstood the OP. Yes, taking care of our elders can be a very exhausting task. But those of us trained in taking care of them should not be paid a sub standard living wage while the nursing homes (and their managers/owners/w-e) get paid the big bucks.

During high school I was friend with a guy from a village known for their conservative takes. And while this guy certainly wasn’t as left as some of my other friends, he liked to fuck with his football teammates by making the take that gay sex is manly.
Why? Because it involves two men. Hetero sex wasn’t as manly because it involves a girl, and lesbian sex was as girly as it got. His teammates really didn’t get that he was fucking with their worldview.
Now he definitely had very idiotic takes himself, but this one always stuck with me because it’s just so easy to troll any insecure right winger with

Nor does it shield one and their shit take from social consequences. It’s only there so that (in theory at least) the government can’t jail you for your opinion.
If you get kicked in the teeth cause you’re a nazi, that’s not a violation of your free speech. It’s a consequence of your shit view on society
