And if you play it over the course of 2 months and reaalllllyyyy like it and wanna buy, then you paid even more?
Well if I go with this method, these are usually singleplayer games that I’m fairly confident I can finish within a few months and won’t really play more than that so it hasn’t ever reached that point for me at least.

More of the latter. A triple A costs 70-80 USD now on release and it’s hard to justify that cost when game pass let’s me play that plus a bunch of other stuff for a month for a fraction of that price. Even if I take 3 months to finish it, I’m still spending less than I would’ve from buying it out right. Plus if I do lose interest past the first month, I can just stop right there.

I’m not sure if I’m understanding this correctly but I get the impression that you’re applying game pass to every game you want to play. If that’s the case yea, it doesn’t make sense to get game pass. But for most people, we’re getting game pass for games that we wouldn’t have bought anyways or it’s for a game we’re fairly positive we can finish within the month and don’t plan to play after. I think there’s reasons why, it’s just not a reason that can be applied to every game or person.

Games on Xbox Game Pass can be modded. Granted, it’s not as easy as something from Steam for the older games but saying they can’t is blatently false. Older games still require to take ownership of files but newer games give you full access. There’s a number of Forza Horizon 6 mods already.
- Comment on Poll: Will you buy GTA 6 when it launches on your platform? 1 week ago:
Never really understood the appeal of it though the shitty DRM and PC ports they had didn’t help. Tried to play GTA SA(?) more than 10 years ago but the bicycle controls were so bad ona tenkeyless keyboard I couldn’t progress. Same thing with the drone controls in Vice City. GTA IV was unplayable due to securom nonsense which after I bypassed, ran into some GFWL error that I gave up on. GTAV was extremely boring for me with how slow the gameplay was. For a game called Grand Theft Auto I was expecting a lot more action. Being forced to do yoga and deliver cars was not at all enjoyable for me.
On the contrary, I found the pre-reboot Saints Row games really fun and so did Sleeping Dogs. All of those games scratches the itch that I had expected GTA to scratch and did it better than GTA did in my opinion. Maybe I’m just not the target audiemce.
- Comment on Steam Machine pricing announced (from $1049-$1428 USD), reservation lists open 2 weeks ago:
Yea, the annoying thing is that this used to be fine. I was able to order the Steam Deck with my non-US account and pick it up when I happened to be in the US. Now, I can’t even do that. I have a 15 year old account and spent probably more than a couple thousand bucks by now. Surely I’ve earned it?

Each global region that’s supported that is. I wish they’d have some way for regions outside of those list to still try. There was essentially 0 chance I was able to get a Steam Controller being outside of those lists.

Having played all 3 of them, I enjoyed The Dark Ages far more than Eternal. With the exception of the Marauder, Eternal was basically just “keep shooting and moving and you’ll never die” and was way too fast on its default setting. While 2016 was plenty fast, it was still somewhat tactical at times. The Dark Ages goes in that direction but with the parries which is an interesting mechanic that was refreshing imo. At times it feels like a rhythm game which was pretty fun. My main issue with it is that it drags in for a bit too long and that it felt like they weren’t really willing to commit all the way with the parry gameplay.
- Comment on Day 675 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing 1 month ago:
Not OP but I have tried it and it really doesn’t age well. The story is novel for its time and I think it’s still alright but the level design absolutely didn’t especially when you put it beside games like Half Life that came out at about the same time. The maze in The Library was especially awful. Frankly, to me, the Xen levels in Half Life was better and that’s saying something.
Frankly, the only Halo games I ever had fun was Reach and Infinite even though Infinite’s story was eh… The gameplay was the most fun I’ve had in any Halo game.

- Comment on Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: Official Game Overview Trailer 2 months ago:
Frankly for me I loved the modern day segments until they butchered it in 4 since it provided a cohesive link between all the games and was building up to a interesting modern day AC (which was killed due to AC3’s modern day ending). That said, if you’re not a long time player then I guess it does feel excessive.

It’s said that the modern day segment has been changed supposedly so let’s hope it’ll be better than what was.
- Comment on Let's discuss ideas how Game Pass should be structured and priced 2 months ago:
The trap is the money you have to spend when you could have played a demo instead.
Few games have demos nowadays though unfortunately.
And the larger trap, that you have to use a Microsoft product to play it on.
I mean that’s not remotely even an issue if you’re already on Windows which most PC gamers already are.
- Comment on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Price Update - Xbox Wire 2 months ago:
It’s not that bad. Honestly I think the newer CoD games are better a year after release. During it’s release schedule, they try really hard to sell the battle pass so the weapons you get from going through the battle pass tends to be overpowered and then balanced after the end of the season.
- Comment on Let's discuss ideas how Game Pass should be structured and priced 2 months ago:
Things aren’t so cut and dry though, there’s a nuance to things. I use it to try a bunch of games without committing to a full purchase until I feel like it’s worth buying them. What about that is a trap?
- Comment on Racing fans, is Forza Horizon 6 for me? 2 months ago:
If you’re on PC or Xbox, you could try it on game pass when it comes out first before committing fully into it.

- Comment on Switch 2 demand appears to be flagging as Nintendo reportedly lowers production 3 months ago:
Why would they learn that when the Switch 2 is selling twice as fast as the first even with a much more limited catalog? A drop of 1/3 is still selling notably faster than the first Switch at it’s same time span.

- Comment on Xbox as a platform is officially dead 4 months ago:
Sounds great honestly, locked down console hardware is such an aging concept. If Valve manages to pull off the Steam Machines, it’s proof that we’ve past the age of consoles. Except Nintendo I guess, they’ve always been a special case somehow.
- Comment on Highguard will permanently shut down on March 12th. 4 months ago:
Considering that this was just a PvP, you’re not losing much in picking it up as long as you don’t spend money on it. It was kinda cool to try it out for one game and realise it wasn’t ever gonna be my cup of tea.

And don’t even get me started on gaming news and influencers, who seem like they love to hate. They bitch about being stuck with CoD, then shit on anything that could someday compete with it. It’s baffling.
Nothing gets more “engagement” like that. It’s not even isolated to games, any other section of news gets the same treatment. It’s a shit show of journalism that we have today.

If that were the case, there wouldn’t be so many 2nd hand stores there. The number of Surugaya, Hard Off, Book Off, Lashinbangs among others and independent retro game stores are proof of this.

Yes…? My only problem with Shadows was the story being a mess. I quite liked the gameplay even though I would’ve preferred something closer to Mirage.

The launch of Ubisoft’s Vantage Studios, the company’s first “Creative House” set to oversee the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six franchises, disrupted those plans as in-development titles came under review as part of the restructure.
And people told me the Tencent partnership would make things better…
