Hey man, you touched all this off by making wide, sweeping, personal generalizations about folks who like literature that you don’t (or read at a different rate, or remember different details than you would have), even going so far as to tie it to their nationality. You set the tone, so if you can’t take it don’t dish it. Easy as.

I hope one day you’re able to find out what’s making you so angry. I went through a phase of taking myself too seriously, and only reading “serious” literature, only listening to music that was “pure” enough, etc… Then I figured out that sometimes you mix a little comfort food into your diet of fine dining, and life gets a little brighter. It’s not about stopping being critical, but looking at the why and what that criticism covers.
Corporate bullshit sucks, and always will. But a series of books written by a couple of (previously) nobodies just seems like a strange target for this much ire. Totally fine if its not your jam, though.

That looks like an Art-O-Mat, they have them all over North Carolina. They don’t sell smokes out of them anymore, but local artists make little $5 knick knacks (cigarette pack sized) that you can buy out of them.

I wrote cheat programs for math, physics, and chemistry in TI-BASIC on my TI-85.
Ended up understanding those equations inside and out in the process, but still felt like I was getting away with something.

Yeah, the hate on lightning kinda reminds me of the hate on FireWire. It’s like, the only alternative at the time was USB 1.0, which was 8mbs. Even in the late 00s, that could have meant hours to sync your phone.

The rehabilitation of Bill Gates’s image after he left MicroSoft was mind blowing. Like here’s the most capitalist capitalist in the world, the Elon Musk of the 90s/early 00s, and otherwise progressive people were fawning over him because he did a little philanthropy at the behest of his wife.
It’s like listening to gamers talk about Windows being an OS with such wide compatibility, when the only reason for that is market share forcing everyone else to bend to it and write Windows drivers for everything.
And I still wonder where we’d be in computing if MS hadn’t anointed Intel and their old-timey architecture as the winner of the CPU wars.
