Lol I played TLD before the story mode was implemented, there was only open survival mode and starting points. The exploring and resource management is really fun, and wolves and cold snaps force you to move from barn to barn and sticking near car wrecks, getting a working hunting rifle was quite hard.

I just aquired a value cap to my interest in digital entertainment. Using the vacation money on living/home improvements and built for life camping gear. €25 indie rpg’s and films for the tablet is enough but then again I have no teenage children that demand top shelf brands or else.

Borderlands 3 was fun but like a final piece to this genre. Many guns, amusing storyline, corny humor and great world design.

- Comment on Future of Giant Bomb website in doubt following prominent staff departures 1 month ago:
The ~2010’s, official game review scandal which all big videogame influencers like IGN, G4tv, Gamespot etc… (this was before instagram and tiktok) got bribed by corporations so the aftermath of that was splintergroups of indie review sites like GiantBomb. And so let’s plays got born. Still never trusting triple-A game marketing ever again

The freedom to look and move around with a mouse instead of buttons made it really popular. And back in those days you got your reviews from the school canteen.

To be fair there’s a range between $1,99 up to $150. The arcade hall from the 90’s with token exchange wasn’t much different.

Gacha is addictive as hell if you grew up with Pokemon and Final Fantasy both huge in Japan. I play a few as well for boredom and yes the weird atmosphere of whales (account with thousands invested) being awkwardly silent but have a following of pretenders.

This was also my first intro to city sims. The sound was a blast, the graphics fresh. Then SimCity 4 came out followed by Simtropolis and a thriving culture of modders and cityplanners in arms it was great.

For me it’s not fanboyism more like vibing on nostalgia, Zelda, Smash Bros, Pokemon (RGBXYZ whatever), top down rpgs, Mario Party - Kart. And probably some crossovers like Metal Gear Solid. But gonna wait at least a year untill considering buying the Steamdeck is comparable but much of it never going to use although still interested
