Furi or Fairphone?

It is common for an abuser to take away a victim’s phone, shoes, car keys, medication, etc in order to control them and make it difficult for them to leave.
- Comment on Is it just the norm now-a-days for grocery stores to have lots of stuff on the shelves that's past the best-by date? 5 days ago:
It’s always been common at certain stores. I don’t shop at those places. It does seem to be spreading, though.

I usually have my hair wrapped when I go outside after washing it. Never met anyone who cared.

- Comment on Should I donate sperm? 2 months ago:
I knew someone who had kids using donated sperm. Her husband wasn’t able to father kids because of a physical problem. I think she got to pick from a book of donors. She chose the same person for both of her pregnancies so her kids would be full siblings. I don’t remember her having anything negative to say about it. It seems like a service that’s useful for people in her situation.

The Switch, because it removed all the cool features the DS had.

- Comment on Anon needs a job 3 months ago:
I think a person without a job can’t often afford to move to a different city. Moving within the same city is already expensive. Moving to a different city costs something like $10k, and then a lot of places won’t rent to you unless you can provide proof of employment/income.
- Comment on Why is the first thing the internet says whenever a relationship post comes up is: "Red Flag"/"Break Up"/"Divorce"/"Don't Walk, Run"/"Go No-Contact"/"Let them die in a nursing home"/etc... 4 months ago:
How much of your life do you want to spend around people who make you unhappy? Generally, you can’t change other people, so if you’re unhappy enough to be posting about your relationship online for random people to comment on, you should at least consider cutting your losses and freeing yourself to find relationships that you actively enjoy being part of.

Some financial institutions are much worse than others. I think it depends on what system they’re using for fraud detection.

If I have to use ID.me for something, I just don’t do it.

Same here. So many websites are now virtually unusable. It doesn’t seem to happen with Chinese sites, though.
- Comment on How do you feel about a 25 year old dating a 46 year old? 4 months ago:
When I was in my 20s, I viewed people in their 40s-50s as parental or even grandparently figures. As an older person, I would be open to dating someone in their 20s if we had a great connection, but I wouldn’t make a move unless they expressed an interest first because I wouldn’t want to be creepy or make them uncomfortable.
- Comment on Is cryptocurrency good for anything? 4 months ago:
It’s good for buying things online when your bank has an overly strict fraud detection system that blocks legitimate purchases because the seller is in a different country or whatever.
- Comment on What's the weirdest argument you've gotten into with someone? 4 months ago:
My mother, who has had three kids, believes that women pee out of their vaginas. She realizes that pee comes out the urethra, but insists that a woman’s urethra is inside the vagina. She was extremely condescending to me when I tried to explain that’s not how it works, so I just gave up.

- Comment on Real Struggle 😔 6 months ago:
I used to work at an office where all of our documents were kept electronically. A few of my coworkers couldn’t figure out how to open any file type except pdf, so whenever I added documents to the system, I’d convert anything else and add a pdf copy for them.
Another group of coworkers was infuriated by this, because they believed I was spending hours every day scanning a ton of paper documents unnecessarily, because I guess they didn’t know any other way to create a pdf?
I ended up being called into a meeting with my manager to justify why I was wasting so much time scanning documents. I explained that I wasn’t scanning anything, I was just opening files that we received in an electronic format and clicking “export to pdf”.
He was blamed me for none of the people who complained knowing how to do this. We were all administrative staff.
