For runners, the difference between 60F and 100F (~15.5 - 37.8 C) is about 2 minutes per mile at the same effort. That’s a huge difference. Humidity makes it worse because your body’s main method for cooling itself doesn’t work, but sweating, comfort, and preference aside, its literally harder to do anything in the heat.

A cooperative economy, co-ops in general, is the answer in my opinion. Anarchists and communists are mostly on board, if only seeing them as stepping stones towards larger goals. Being a form of socialism, socialists are on board. While being stateless and still relying on markets they may be able to sway conservatives. Their economic proof of success already might convince liberals. And who doesn’t want democracy in their workplace?

Socialism is when the means of production and distribution of goods or services are owned collectively or by a centralized government. I think either would be better than capitalism, but youre probably only thinking of the latter. Collective and government control can also take different forms.
Parks, libraries, public schools, fire departments, postal service, public infrastructure, public transportation, social security, etc are centralized government controlled socialist ideas “owned” by the people. Cooperatives are independent, stateless market socialism, owned by its members/workers and democratically controlled. I think its pretty easy to see how cooperatives are a direct alternative to capitalism and involve the economy and markets, but there’s more a centralized government can do too. Namely nationalization of industries like oil/gas, railways, airlines, telecommunications, electric power, media, banks, housing etc. Which all also involve the economy and can be democratically controlled.

I don’t think any working class citizen should want to keep capitalism in any form. But I really don’t understand how we’ve decided democracy in government is necessary but not in our workplaces/economy. Somehow the objectively flawed system needs just a few more regulations? Its insanity to me.
Co-ops offer a path towards democratic control of the economy and it is more than just idealistic.
Greater job stability than traditional businesses
Higher productivity

That’s part of it, but its also been limited by access to capital. Banks have historically denied loans for cooperatives, and investors tend not to want to get involved. We’re also lacking a comprehensive legal framework. In some States, depending on the intended industry, it may not even be possible to register as cooperative with existing statutes.

Trying to say the problem is literally capitalism, and what it rewards and encourages. The problem is not necessarily leadership. The solution I propose is not merely idealistic. I agree. I advocate for democratizing the workplace. We already have a successful model for this that literally outperforms traditional capitalist firms. If only we had a system, laws, regulations, etc, that rewarded it.
And capitalism does not encourage competition. Just the opposite. Cartels and monopolies regularly outperform competitive enterprises.
Kind of my point actually. The foundations of capitalism are on shaky grounds. Currently though, internal cooperation inside traditional capitalist firms, only rewards those at the top; those with the capital.
Human nature rewards socializing up to the Dunbar number
I dont see how this is anything other than a bad faith argument. Socialism, broadly, is when workers own the means of production. Not the individual capitalists that exploit their workers for profit. How is this a goal we wouldn’t all want to strive towards? I advocate for worker cooperatives. This is a form of, decentralized, stateless market socialism. Paired with an alternative measure of GDP, like the economy for the common good, for the purpose of tax breaks, subsidies, etc. Nationalize a few key industries, and we have ourselves an economy that benefits more than just a few. Nothing about some “Dunbar number” limits any of this.

Capitalism rewards selfish individualism, greed, and encourages competition. Proponents claim this works because it naturally aligns with human nature. How about a system that rewards selflessness, and encourages cooperation? Which are also a natural part of human nature. We stand by democracy in government, but don’t want it in our workplaces? No issues with poor leadership would be outright eliminated, but we can do better.

Oh right. The larger point being anything from Garmin is probably better than anything else on the market. Theyll last years with no additional fees, and they apparently dont sell any of your data. Anything with them is opt in, and all part of why the devices seem so expensive. Seems they aren’t making money on shady business practices.

I would look at Garmin. The cirqa has the same aesthetics, and it looks like the fitbit air has a subscription for some functionality. While the Garmin is more expensive, everything else is included.
I prefer the built in GPS for running so I don’t have to take my phone with me. Maybe you’d like the vivo active or lily 2?

Im surprised by the people indicating that they don’t pull over on purpose, literally just to be an asshole… Tailgating is idiotic, but you can do something about it by getting out of the way. Its safer to have as much room around you as possible. Don’t tailgate, let people pass, and pass quickly. Who wants to drive right next to someone, in their blind spot or in yours? Use your controls to either speed up or slow down.
Also driving fast barely saves time on short trips. You might save as much as 2 minutes on your daily 20 mile commute driving like an absolute maniac. But who wants to risk a ticket or accident doing that everyday and then paying an increased insurance rate on top of potentially losing your car and spending time in the hospital with an insane medical bill?

Koss. Used the kph30i with inline mic as a teaching assistant when everything was remote. The porta pro has a version with a mic. I don’t think you can get anything that sounds anywhere close to as good for the price range.

Most people in the states can barely reach their feet. They have a special bench in their house for putting their shoes on, but they have to make sure they do a proper warmup routine, chair yoga, before else they’ll pull something. Putting their shoes on is like the most exercise they’ll ever get in a day. Too stubborn to admit they need their own handicap parking permit after they stole the one they use from their aging mothers. They take an ultralight backpacking camp chair for the two story elevator ride at work. They can’t be expected to take off their shoes until they have to take their once weekly shower.
