Love the meme but hate the sport. The whole thing revolves around two people hurting each other and causing brain damage in the process. That’s not entertaining to me, that’s horrifying.

- Comment on Anon doesn't tip 1 month ago:
Customers are NOT punishing staff by refusing to tip.
Our school teachers all did a great job at getting us to blame other students when when one student did something bad and the teacher punished all of us for it. My teachers did this gaslighting bullshit many times when I was in school. And now a whole new generation of adults are perpetuating the cycle. But it’s wrong.
The restaurant owner is the one to blame for poor wages. The owner will say that the restaurant cannot afford to stay open otherwise. This is probably true. Many – if not most – restaurants in america cannot afford to exist unless they effectively steal wages from their workers. We either need legislation to fix this, or we need to let these restaurants die.
- Comment on Anon doesn't tip 1 month ago:
So by not tipping, you are benefiting from the low cost of food while screwing over the person that has no control over the situation. YTA
Customers aren’t the assholes for the failures of the restaurant industry, just as customers aren’t the assholes for the refusal of the federal government to ensure restaurant workers are paid a living wage.
Customers who don’t tip are not the enemy.
- Comment on Realistically... How fucked is the US? 1 month ago:
We saw what Trump did last time he was in office, and it was really bad, but it was recoverable.
Except putting people in cages at the border and separating children from families. Many families still have not been reunited.
Except the million people that died from Covid-19 due to the government putting the economy over human lives.
Except the stuffing of judicial positions, including the supreme court, that same court that basically made him a king and free from any consequences from all the laws he broke.
Except for our air, land, food and water becoming more toxic and polluted due to Trump’s rollback of EPA protections.
Except all the pregnant women who are dying or forced to carry their rapist’s baby due to that packed court overturning roe v wade.
Except the people of color who rebelled and rioted during the george floyd protests but then the government showed up in unmarked vans and took people away, while the police shot more innocent people and busted heads, and almost nothing changed for the better regarding police violence.
Except the trans people who are now illegal in the state of Florida for having a driver’s license that matches their gender identity, or the bounty on trans people in a town in Texas, or the governor of Texas trying to get lists of trans people to hunt down and prosecute. Or insurance companies refusing to cover trans-related healthcare. Or trans people being shunned by their peers and excluded from sports. Or the violence against LGBTQ people that’s doubled in the last year. All enabled and emboldened by Trump and Trumpism.
I haven’t recovered from any of this shit.
With or without Trump, the new normal is fascism in America. Every american needs to fight every bad policy, every bad law, every bad decision, every threat – every day – until there are no more fascists in power.
- Comment on Playdate Season 2 drops in 2025, but firm release details, price, and games all still to be finalised 1 month ago:
I really like my Playdate, and I say this as someone who was very critical of it before it came out ("No color or backlight? Only A and B buttons? Why would anyone pay $200 for that?) and received it as a gift from my very intuitive husband. I am still very critical of the fact that there is no backlight, but the damn thing is so cute and charming. I like playing games on it.
I’m very disappointed that the dock just got shelved and won’t be released. Now I have to make my own or buy an Etsy one. :(
- Comment on Cycling will be more dangerous due to council clampdowns, say campaigners 1 month ago:
It recommended adding cycling to the city’s public spaces protection order (PSPO), which aims to tackle antisocial behaviour by banning large gatherings, street drinking, graffiti and loud noise in the city centre, and issuing fines to those who do not comply.
So if the city can issue fines for non-compliance to this law, why can’t they issue fines for the small number of cyclists that are currently endangering people? Why ban the 99% of good cyclists instead of going after the bad 1%?
- Comment on The Only Patriotic Choice for President 1 month ago:
Yep. The NYT can get fucked as long as they continue intentionally spreading misinformation on trans issues and basically assisting in the legislative genocide of trans people across the US.

If you go Android, I recommend a sony phone. Unlockable bootloaders, microsd, headphone jack, exceptional audio, good camera.
I even recently replaced the battery in my Xperia 1 iii.

When your phone is no longer locked down and working against you, it’s amazing how much more you can - and will - do with it, and the extra storage space quickly becomes most appreciated.

Wait…whaaat?
THEY WHAT?!?
As if they weren’t already scary enough!
- Comment on House Centipedes 1 month ago:
I got up one night around 1am to pee. I see maybe 3 or 4 of these little guys in my house each summer, so not very often, but enough that I am always on guard for them, so I turn on the bathroom light and put my feet on the bathmat, thinking it will offer some sort of centipede protection. I am halfway through peeing when one of those little devils apparates out of nowhere and runs full speed right at me. The bathmat does not slow it down at all.
I don’t care what they eat. In my house, they are the worst pest.
- Comment on How come LED Light Bulbs only last for about 2-3 Years? 2 months ago:
+1 for philips.
The problem is most of what the big box hardware stores in the US are selling are junk brands. And they won’t even offer basics like a philips 75-watt-equivalent soft-white led in their stores.
The junk brand bulbs will fail in my kitchen light fixture after a year (they start flickering). The philips bulbs have never failed for me.
A properly designed and produced led bulb should last like 20 years.

- Comment on Why are people on the internet (and Lemmy) so quick to say someone "deserves to die" 3 months ago:
I think you are right. I wanted to add that often times people will have a strong sense of justice or revenge and want to see something bad happen to a person who did bad things.
Other times when people call for someone’s death, it’s because they don’t believe that there is any other way to stop the harm that person is causing. This tends to be the case when political figures start violating the civil and human rights of their constituents.

Yeah, the person who thought this up should be forced to do it for 24 hours straight, with only 10 seconds for each guess, and for every one he gets wrong, five minutes gets added to his time.

We often have prices changed when a customer reaches checkout.
I know this isn’t your fault or anything but damn, that seems lightly customer hostile at best, and deeply unethical at worst. It sounds like it should be illegal.

When the tape drive fails and eats your tape in the process, you better hope you have a second backup or you’ll be crying salty salty tears.
I worked in the service center for a tape-drive manufacturer and I would routinely see the drives we got back for repair. They were often taken apart by the customer in a frantic and desperate attempt to get their cassette out. The cassette was almost always still in there though, with multiple feet of tape snagged and wound around everything.
