- Comment on Ori studio in crisis: No Rest For The Wicked could be their final game 10 hours ago:
As I said, I do plan to play it! I might be metroidvania’d out at the moment, my partner and I have played a crap ton of Blasphemous 1 & 2 over the past few months.
- Comment on Ori studio in crisis: No Rest For The Wicked could be their final game 20 hours ago:
I think there’s a lot more that goes intuitive a games success or failure than just reviews. I’m not entirely convinced that a wave of good reviews would financially save their studio. I also find it funny that he acknowledges that he doesn’t write reviews for things.
For my case, it’s been on my wish list for a while. I enjoyed Ori, but didn’t love it, and plan on getting around to the second Ori game eventually. But I have a zillion games to play, and right now they’re not that high on my list. But my moods change, and next month I may well be in the mood for something like No Rest for the Wicked, see it on my wish list, and finally pick it up.
But quite frankly, no review is going to sway me. I’ve enjoyed Mixed review games, I’ve loved Mostly Negative games, and I’ve disliked Overwhelmingly Positive games. Fact of the matter is I’m much more likely to look at actual gameplay videos and make a decision rather than read a written review.
But, that’s just my anecdotal experience. I personally find it hard to believe the reviews play that big of a role here. I think that success or failure comes down to a hundred different factors, and the unfortunate reality is that some really awesome gems aren’t successful for no real fair reasons, sometimes.

The thing for me is that it’s a game about a guild of explorers, and the game is all fast travel. The bits you do “explore” were soulless.

You’re so far off base it’s hilarious. A Stardew Valley 2 would be hype as hell.

I’m very thankful for that! 2008 me was pretty insufferable.

I’ve never regretted a GTA purchase (admittedly I didn’t get the remasters so that might be why…) so I’m cautiously looking forward to this one. Started up 5 again recently with the Enhanced version dropping on PC and man its still stupid fun.

I’m sorry that it came off as condescending. Truly, that was not the intent. Tone is difficult over text, but I was more going for an incredulous sarcasm that beckoned critical thinking.

No, stopping all USPS deliveries is not an option. They can usually hold mail for up to 30 days if you apply for it, but I think this even varies by local office.
You can, however, refuse some mail. This is a manual process. You can also apply to be removed from mailing lists, which is almost certainly what the other poster did.

For putting some crap in a box, taping on a flyer, and then lying on the internet?
You don’t actually think this happened, do you? Why would the post office ship a heavy package for free just because a no postage needed flyer is stuck to it?

Loved Max Payne 3. As someone who also enjoyed the first two, I always felt 3 was underrated. Honestly think it holds up, too.

Aaah, got ya, sorry about that I misunderstood you.
- Comment on Please suggest good progression based multiplayer games 2 weeks ago:
If I was looking to describe a kind of game, I would not use “progression based” to describe a game where you start from zero every time. I’m well aware that many rogue likes have permanent unlocks which facilitate progression, but then I’m back to my original point in that is not a very helpful descriptor because almost every game is progression based in that sense.

Stardew Valley.
Honestly I want suggest a fair few but I have difficulty grasping what you mean by progression based on your examples. I would argue nearly all games, ever, are “progression based”.

Every publication I’ve read says the DLCs are all included in the base game. Deluxe adds new cosmetics, OST, and an art book.

Yes and no. All original dlc is included in the base game, including the infamous horse armour.
The Deluxe Edition adds art book, OST, and some new weapon, armours, and yes horse armours not in the original game.

I admit this is less of a concern to me because I don’t do a lot of modding, but I can definitely understand that disappointment for those that do. With a different engine, though, I do hope it will be less buggy.
- Comment on The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remaster is real - Eurogamer 3 weeks ago:
I really admire the work of the Skyblivion crew, as well as the ones remaking Morrowind, but I’m not quite as cynical as you regarding the official. As I said, I think the studio has handled some good remasters in the past and I think it will be done well.
