Go touch grass dude. When you’re just following people around harassing them on the internet, it’s time to go out and get some fresh air.

I’m also kinda skeptical that this stuff has as many applications as are being touted.
These models can do a LOT of different things. If you don’t see that, that’s an education problem, not an AI problem.
And combining these capabilities in new and unique ways are only going to make things even more wild. It won’t be very long at all before my “Ummmmm, I’ll have aaaaaaaaa” order at McDonalds doesn’t need to be taken by a human being and there’s just a single dude in the back running the whole place.

Criticism of AI taking jobs is a fair take. Even if AI only makes the workflow more efficient, that’s less people that need to be hired in the industry. It’s fair in realizing that AI is valuable, and is doing amazing things, while also criticizing the downsides of using it.
AI is in its infancy. Different techniques are only going to make it better and better at what it does - it will end up taking jobs. But just broadly claiming it’s bad because you can’t read words that already weren’t readable in the source material is silly.

I think it’s totally fair to either ask for AI upscaling to stop happening on purchasable media, or to ask for it to be clearly labeled as such.
Why? People keep buying it. The method of upscaling doesn’t matter to most people - only enthusiasts.
- Comment on Wallace & Gromit fans appalled by the AI upscaling on new 4K UHD release 4 weeks ago:
haha, what a bunch of reactionaries. I love how they point to a completely unreadable blur on the original, and go “Seee?! You can’t read that in the upscaled version!!” – as if you could in the original.
The upscales look great with the exception of some fine detail of the shadows on the back.

Bro, GhatGPT wrote a better apology:
Dear Community,
Look, we know we sell little plastic figures—not games, not platforms, not anything remotely digital—but somehow, we’ve managed to trip over our own shoelaces and knock something precious to all of you right off the shelf. Yes, we’re talking about itch.io, and yes, we understand the gravity of what happened.
We’re not going to sugarcoat it: we messed up. We’re not entirely sure how the dominoes fell this way, but somehow, through a series of unfortunate events (and probably some poorly-thought-out legal maneuvers), our actions have impacted an entire community that thrives on creativity and passion. That was never our intention, and it’s not who we want to be.
The truth is, we’re sitting here staring at our little figures, wondering how something so small can lead to such a big screw-up. We know this affects you, and we’re genuinely sorry for the frustration, confusion, and anger we’ve caused.
We don’t expect forgiveness overnight, but please know we’re working hard to make this right. We’re talking to the people who actually know what they’re doing (because, let’s face it, we clearly don’t), and we’re committed to doing better moving forward.
We value this community more than you realize, even if we’ve done a poor job of showing it. Thank you for your patience, and we hope you’ll give us the chance to earn back your trust—not just with our figures, but with our actions.

I think you’d be awfully surprised calling yourself “as left as they come” on here. There are some people who are so far out in left field that they come back around on the right again.

It was viewed as illegitimate inside the US too. And yeah, I remember, even as a 17yr old at the time, seeing the event happen live and lamenting to my mother that we were going to have another Bush term over it. Historically for America that’s always been the case.
- Comment on In the US, is this actually the moment past the point of no return? 1 month ago:
Nobody thought that at all. Most presidents sitting during outbreaks of war retain their positions. You’d have to have been in a complete echo chamber to believe this stance.
