Thankfully, despite naming them like that, it doesn’t actually seem to have any real purpose.
- Comment on Anon tries programming in Java 6 days ago:
I’m pretty sure Java doesn’t have pointers, so writing a hello world application isn’t gonna fuck up nearly that hard.
The one thing he forgot though is that your source file is probably in
com/companyname/net/classes/factory/factoryfactory/worker/lib/bin/refresh/jdk/model/ui/closebutton/press.java
And spread out among a million other directories, and the java file is like…3 lines. But there are 10k files spread all around directories like this that are all 3 lines a piece with a class definition.
- Comment on If Trump wins the election thru fraud how can the democrats refute it and prove they won? Or will it just be like another Jan 6 and four years of whining like Trump? 2 weeks ago:
I know enough history to see where this is headed. I hope it won’t be an immediate firestorm, and I feel as if there are a lot of people in a lot of high up places that won’t just let Cheeto-man arbitrarily take control like he wants. So it won’t be an overnight thing. I already stockpile ammo, Republicans don’t have a monopoly on gun rights, thankfully. If I gotta skedaddle, I have both a place in Canada I can stay, and a place over in the UK temporarily. I’m, unfortunately surrounded by these imbiciles - but I keep my head down enough that most of them think I’m one too.
Germany wasn’t an overnight thing either. It’ll start with rounding up political rivals and immigrants into camps. If that comes to pass, that’s my litmus test for getting the fuck out of dodge.

Yeah, the whole “Cult of Personality” thing is solidly in Trumps hands - because look at him: The guy never backs down off of a lie. He can’t. He won’t. No other republican has had the bravado to be that stupidly bold.

That’s how Putin did it; probably the guy guiding all of this.
They have term limits over there in Russia as well, but they have interpreted it as “only allowed X years in a row”…so Putin installs a crony for 1 session every X years, and then magically wins the votes by a landslide every other time.
That’s what they’ll end up doing. They’ll ‘interpret’ it as consecutive terms, and we’ll get 8 years of Trump, then 4 of Vance, then 8 of Trump, etc.

Bonus: I believe they’ll be doing something wild with Vance as well - probably temporarily making him president, while he pardons Trump for any past crimes, and then giving the presidency back to Trump.

I believe the goal and intent is to get enough results into question that they kick it into Mike Johnson’s hands - and that mfer has almost no history at all. No bank account, nothing. He’ll do the thing, it’ll be contested, it’ll go to supreme court, where – surprise surprise, they’ll rule in favor of Donald J Trump and he will be elected our new Dictator.

Are we talking who is going to grind the election to a halt, and then force this to go to the house, where they unceremoniously decide that Trump gets to be King?
- Comment on How a small but vocal minority of social media users distort reality and sow division 3 weeks ago:
I’ve been experiencing this on lemmy 100% They follow a playbook of sorts too. A couple of things I notice they all do:
- Ignore any comparison to Republicans/Trump. Because doing so would point out how absolutely lop-sided the choice is.
- Claim Genocide is the reason. Ignore all other reasons.
- Call you Racist, Conservative, etc.
- Claim that you insulted them in an attempt to become the victim.
- Claim that during every presidential vote “America has been at stake if you don’t vote for [X] candidate” - ignoring the very real attempts at overthrowing our government.

And even better because they start to come to their own thought-out conclusions. There’s less baggage in the way for them to eventually work their way through it. Especially when they’ve got to convince you - because mysteriously they always jump to all of this “proof” to show you.
It doesn’t happen immediately, and if you try to speed it up you’ll just cause them to reverse course.
I’ll sprinkle a little bit of … my own confusion into the mix? As an example, I’ll remain interested, but be like “wait, you said X but then you said Y - doesn’t that contradict X?” I’ll let them explain and not fight them on it, but send them off with a warm smile.
Not everyone will break free of the programming, but some will - and that’s all I can hope for.

- Comment on Row as Starmer suggests landlords and shareholders are not ‘working people’ 3 weeks ago:
I mean, he’s right. The whole point of my mother leveraging her home to become a landlord back then was because she had a stroke and literally could-not-work. Landlords aren’t working class. They’re just investors.
- Comment on When did we stop saying "things are fire" to "things are cold"? 3 weeks ago:
“Cool” has been around for a lot longer than calling things “fire”. Things will continue to be called cool, until the next fad rolls around, and then it’ll go back to being called cool again.
- Comment on Eat lead 3 weeks ago:
I mean, the existence of lead doesn’t necessarily prove the age of the earth so much as that those elements have existed for that long.
HOWEVER – you’re basically guaranteed to find lead in uranium deposits found around the earth, and the ratio of lead/uranium is how we calculated the 4.6 billion years.
Uranium is formed in Neutron stars or Supernova, so at the very least - the uranium found on earth itself is 4.6 billion years old. Whether “Earth” was “Earth” back then, who knows. This could be pre-moon? Could be before the earth even cooled down to have a solid outer layer? So the estimate is bound to be off by a little…
Just not by 4.5 billion years.
I’m pretty sure just soap has been around for more than 4k years.

Hah, I’m totally making an assumption here, but I’m willing to bet you’re the type who tests the temperature of the room by saying something mildly political like this, and then if things go well, you’ve successfully hijacked a conversation - and if they don’t, you just back off and pull the “it was just a joke, I was being funny”…
Unfortunately you backed yourself into a corner here because the “it was just a joke!” doesn’t really land well when you’re trying to inject politics into a conversation that has literally nothing to do with them.
- Comment on Why do some men dis other men who sit to pee? (& follow-up questions) 4 weeks ago:
It’s okay to simply be wrong and admit it you know. Much more honorable as well. Being silly with a political joke, is still being political.

- Comment on Why do Orks from Warhammer 40K have nipples? 5 weeks ago:
I mean, human men have nipples and there’s no use for them there either. Evolution doesn’t get rid of things because they aren’t useful anymore, it only gets rid of things when they become detrimental to the survival of the species.
- Comment on Everybody who ever voted for trump is a cunt. 5 weeks ago:
I didn’t vote for him, but my mistake was not voting directly against him. As heavy-red of an area I’m in, it probably didn’t matter, but I still felt guilty when he won. I’m one of the Bernie bros who couldn’t let go; and we legitimately made a mistake back then - but I was for sure Hillary was gonna dunk it. I was flabbergasted when Trump won.
- Comment on Why don't we have cool vending machines in the US? 5 weeks ago:
This is the answer. Japan has a lot of respect for others, so these types of machines will last a lot longer; making the payoff more palatable.
Place a vending machine outside in America, and it’ll be vandalized in a week max.
